Unless you plan on it being a project car (which a Cobalt is a pretty shitty project car, cool for a daily driver though) and have another backup car to drive, I wouldn't touch the 2.4L. You will spend a lot of money, it may make a decent amount of power, but reliability will be in question. It also will barely increase the value of the car, mods rarely ever add much value.

eh, I'm still not sold on the direct injection.

IMHO, 2.4L=more displacement which = more power if he builds it. If he throws the exact same turbo and same boost and all on his 2.4, he'll make a lot more power than a tc, especially in the tq department.

 

Yet he has to build it correctly, that costs a lot of money for just the turbo setup alone. But then it still doesn't have anything else the SS has over the 2.4L (which is a lot of content). It also has a 10.4 compression ratio, so you arn't going to be able to run 10+ PSI on it and expect it to last.

 

I agree, there is no replacement for displacement, 2.4 built right can produce more power, it's just the LNF and LSJ are built for boost, which is a big advantage. I would like to see the LE5 be built for boost and see it's capabilities

 

if that was true we would all be driving cars w/ 6.0L engines
