09 Computer?
Ok, now I'm curious. Anyone know the exact differences between the 08 and 09 computers in the SS/TCs? Is it calibration? That 280+ hp to the wheels post has me wanting to get my 09 to a dyno asap.

That was one single dyno result and I'm sure if you're familiar with dynamometers you'd know they don't all read the same. You could "tweak" certain things on a dyno and have it produce inflated numbers or have other variables affect what it will produce. And it's very difficult to compare numbers from different style dynos. Even if that particular dyno was reading off a bit as long as it is consistent it should work great for him to show gains/losses in power due to modifications, and that is where a dyno is truly useful, not for producing absolute hp/torque figures. If you want to compare chassis power numbers of cars across the country an intertia style Dynojet with an SAE correction factor applied is usually the best bet. Then back it up with trap speeds at the track.
The computer hardware is the same between both cars and I bet the calibration (software/tuning) is the same between the '08 and '09 cars. If any changes were made they'd generally be to address drivability or emission issues. Hoping for more power when GM still rates the '09 the same as last year is wishful thinking.

Yeah, I'll be seeking a dyno real soon myself to try to confirm these numbers.
I understand and agree with you blackbird, but we can't be sure without additional dyno pulls I suppose.

I think something is fishy with that dyno... 280 to wheels? On I think they said 16.7 PSI? Doesn't sound right at all. 280whp maybe with 22-24 PSI.
I'm willing to bet when more 09's get dyno'd we'll see more 08ish numbers.

god still with the dyno.
I have nothing to prove nor gain with that, I was just posting the results... it's not even my car.
Anyway, no one knows since you can't open the calibration file on the 09's yet.
I'll post up the differences though when Bill sends me the new hpt software

Best bet would be to set up a local dyno day for new SS Turbo owners. Then you could compare multiple stock '08 and '09 cars on the same dyno on the same day under the same conditions.

Their is no diffrence with the motor from 08 to 09. The dynos for the 08 owners were done on dynojets. The 09 dyno was on a mustang dyno. Mustang dynos overrate engine output.

Well,i see a dyno group maybe goin on way up north, but i'm not drivin 3.5 hours each way.:banghead:

Can either of you find out the part numbers for the brake pads and the caliper? I'm on a mission to get aftermarket pads that don't create so much dust. I know this caliper is out there on some other car, so I know they make other pads that will work.

It makes sense that they would have two different part numbers with two different OS. I'm guessing the biggest difference being for the display option on the 09's.
Mainly because you wouldn't want to get an 08 ECM stuck into an 09 with the display should something go wrong with it down the road. Then have pissed off customers because they have to wait, and wait and trial and error to find one that worked. lol
Do have something personal with me? You seem to always pick out my posts for some reason.
PM me if you have beef with me. I'm not saying that in any sort of threatening manner whatsoever. I'd just like to get to the bottom of it if you have a problem.
