2.5 in piping

how restrictive is 2.5 in piping compared to 3 in piping on the LNF????

i talked to the guys at corsa and they said all you would have to do is change the flange so it would fit. but it is 2.5 in piping. even of i buy only the muffler, its still restrictive. any thoughts?

With the stock turbo you'll be fine, just get a free flowing muffler.

absolutely no restiction man, dont worry. You dont need pressure in the exhaust, but it is fine to have some, especially on a stock turbo.

no back pressure is fine on a turbo car. But the turbo itself creates the pressure. 3 inch is fine trust me. Plus you will need it for when you start modding

nah i wouldnt really rate inch by hp. Put it this way, smaller piping more torque, bigger piping more hp. Unless you go too big or too small then you get the point lol

find a three inch corsa, or better yet just buy a well flowing resonator put that somewhere in the exhaust, and then weld a damn tip (not a muffler) to the end, you are **** after that

The stock muffler has been proven to flow over 550CFM. Way more than our stock turbo maxed out at 415 CFM or 32lbs/min. A catback on these cars is purely for sound with the stock turbo. I dont think you will gain more than 2-3 HP even on a tuned car but I have not seen anybody post results of a tuned car stock otherwise and then with just a catback. Hahn's PPC tuned TC with a 3" catback made 274 whp it made 20 whp more with the DP and intercooler installed. I believe that the stock DP is where most of the restriction is.

Yes, but most of the restriction is in the stock DP. A good aftermarket one like the Hahn catted one I have on my car will definately add about 15 whp or so, about 5 times what you will gain with the catback portion.

That is your best bet anyway. PM me if you want to know where to get a very good quality 3" stainless catback for $405. Borla or Magnaflow muffler and full stainless from the DP back. Mine is coming soon with a 5" round Borla XR1 muffler.

Don't buy a 2.5" cat back, the stock is that, and crushes down to like 2.48 inches...it's not worth it.

I think he is convinced now that he should by a less restrictive DP and 3" catback.

lol I was plannin on the 3 in anyways guys. I just really want to to customize the corsa into the LNF.I havent seen it done yet. I would like my balt to sound like a balt. not anyother car. thats why i dont want aero or something.

its not a SRT-4 or a WRX STI. ya know?

No, it is a decent catback but that huge trash can they put on there for muffler has to go. I am anxiously awaiting my catback. Borla FTW.

3" tubing is 33% larger than 2 1/2" tubing. We are going to flow bench test both sizes in a little bit to show you guys the difference. Both the 2 1/2" as well as the 3" pieces we flow will be the exact same length.

Be back with results shortly........

OK, we just flowed the following:

2 1/4"
2 1/2"
3"

All three were U-bends (180 degree bends)
Each was a total over-all length of 28 " long before bending.

2 1/4" flowed 384 cfm @ 28" water
2 1/2" flowed 497 cfm @ 28" water
3" flowed 728 cfm @ 28" water

So there you have it.
I hope you all find this info helpful.
