2012 Grandsport Vette vs '08+ SS/TC
So, I saw an article on the new Grandsport corvette. The 1/4 times were pretty consistant in a 6spd, and got a best of 12.5 @ 115mph, in good weather and elevation of course.
I was just curious to your thought on what is needed to keep up with it in our SS/TC's?
Obvious bolt-ons and tune and driver mod, but what else in detail do you think is needed?
This may be a little dumb, but for some reason I always gauge performance on a vette because I think its the best all around performer in a normal car, and I've always wanted a C6 6spd...lol

you could do it with the stock turbo, but you will need drag slicks to do it.
Fastest stock turbo time ive seen was ZZPs 08 cobalt SS with slicks. They ran an 11.99@114mph.
Easier way to do it is swap the turbo.

i thought guys with full bolt-ons and a aggressive tune and good tires were running 12's @ 110+ ?
ZZP ran an 11.6 with slicks and consistant low 12's on street tires with stock turbo.
the Vette weighs 3350lbs with 436hp and 428lbft.
So, our power to weight ratio is probably better, but is fwd and has not as good of a powertrain.

Lol, thats what im trying to get at. What are guys having to do to get the straight-line performance of the vette?
btw, i need new tires and my clutch installed before i do anymore racing, because right now it slips and spins all over the place under full-throttle...lol

Many people have gotten low 12's out of them bone stock.
GM underrated the LS3 by a fair degree, many put 420ish to the tires in stock form.
Basically look at the trap speeds, 115mph is high for a RWD car, it has much more in it than a 12.5.
So basically the fastest stock turbo LNF should run side by side a bone stock C6 GS, provided the drivers are of equal skill level.
That being said, toss some slicks on the Grand Sport and I would be surprised to see it run mid-high 11's with nothing else.
My old man has a 2010 Grand Sport and it would of taken my buddies fully bolted, tuned, meth injected LNF, haven driven both cars.

Dart, you are funny man. You have a video for everything...lol
Looks like at about 120mph he started to creep a bit back, probably would have been even at 140 and pulling.
Does the high rise wing make a huge difference for speed? I hear that it make the trap speed about 2-4mph slower than a wingless car?

lol, from a roll i am very confident, but at a drag track, not so much, unless the other guy doesnt know how to drive..ha..
Once I get the Conti- extreme dw tires and my ky stage 3 installed, then hopefully i would have a better chance. Looks like I need that hahn 20g to run low 12's in the quater mile though
