The dealer will do whatever GM says. If he calls the regional rep and the rep calls the dealer and explains to them it is a warranty item then the dealer's hands are tied, they have to fix it based on bargaining agreements. There are laws that protect consumers as well.

But in all honesty, F*ck the dealership and toss on an aftermarket intake and be done with it.
GM can't go out to every dealer in the country for every problem. The dealer looks at it and reports the issue to GM who makes a decision. They have to pick and choose which issues they actually go see in person.

Mine broke as well and the dealership replaced the whole elbow........I only have 28K miles, but the Service Rep said that its a common problem with the cobalt SS as well as the rear brakes. I have a K&N SRI now!!

**** don't get me started on stealerships.

1. I buy gms1. I ask the service manager what mods I can do and keep my warranty as well. He says anything don't change the ecu. 2 months later they void my warranty for gms1 and downpipe only.

2. I take the car in for an oil change. Pick it up, its running like ****. Guys forgot to put the oil cap on, they broke my pcv pipe and tried to electrical tape it together.

I said **** gm, got a hp tune and haven't looked back. I will take the car to do work to replace things when they go.

Why blame GM for a stupid dealer? They don't own the dealer or run it. Every brand has their share of stupid ones too.

Are cars aren't very common so in some cases, most dealerships haven't seen or worked on one. I have had a horrible experience with my dealership also. I had to go a week without my car when one of my shift cables crapped on me. A WEEK and 3 part orders to fix it, and they didn't get replace shift cover bracket, so the cover popped off for another week til they got that part in. And when they replaced the bracket to hold the shift boot in place, the mechanic stabbed a hole in my driver's seat cover, LOL..another part order! (No rental for warranty work, borrowed wife's car) Next dealership is 30 miles away I've never tracked or dragged my car, commute 60 miles round trip 5 days a week. They gave me a GM Preferred customer plan til 48k, to try to make up for their lack of knowledge. I met a few cool guys, that were going to tune me, but this car is too big of a hassle before mods, let alone with mods. /rant
