Cobalt SS Ion 05-07 Manual Transmission 5 Speed MU3 NEW - eBay (item 370398225309 end time Dec-14-10 16:27:42 PST)
599 or best offer for an LSJ tranny w/o lsd. Maybe swap your diff into it or just put it together and sell it . Hell the shorter 3rd gear might help take some stress off with the 4.05 ratio

Yea but the 2nd gear on the LSJ trannys is a problem. One of the guys I was hanging with in AZ blew 2nd on 2 different trannsmissions in his LSJ. He was E-85, stage 3 pulley, injectors, the whole deal I'm not sure an LSJ trans would be the best option, jsut something to consider.

I broke 3 gear and it didn't grind either it just ripped all the teeth off both gears. The clicking noise was from the pc's moving around in the tranny. I don't know what kind of power you are making but I am making trans last in my car as long as I don't NLS or run the car at 625whp every time I drive it. If your clutch is not disengaging all the way between shifts that will also cause very early trans failure. What kind of fluid are you using, or maybe you just need to not treat the trans like it's a dog box. You should also change the fluid after the break in period.

I def. agree, but it seems people in this market don't want to pay the money for a good gear set. To put in a quaife gear set you are looking at spending 5000 grand to get your tranny back in a usable condition. Our ZZP trans works great with the 4.45 final drive and a LSD. It still uses the stock gear pack so there are limitations. Also nothing will hold up to some one wheel hopping the car like an idiot, or side stepping the clutch and 6000 rpm. People have to use some common sense when beating on a trans with such low torque and hp ratings.

truth ( bolded)
we;ve only killed 2 transmissions so far and these cars range from 400-450whp (my car over 500whp) and I just don't know what you guys are doing to these things (op not zzp).
