94 octane
94 octane
Husky here in Canada has prem gasoline rated at 94 octane, may contain up to 10% ethanol. My question, I have Gms1 car, can i use this gas and not cause any short or long term damage to my engine, will there be any better performance compared to 91 octane!
ethanol content is what helps get the octane number. The number is the number, 94=94. No problem, and its a natural gas line antifreeze, so u be good.
reid vapor pressure is a different deal and applies to all winter gasolines regardless of ethanol content. U be safe with GMS1 ps pnly Petro Canada has 94 in Ontario.

94 is fine, i use it whenever the gas prices are down, its a little to expensive for my liking, but its great, u notice an increase in power, and i noticed some knock on 91, as soon as i used 94 it was gone. very good gas. and u dont notice any gas milage drop from the ethanol. if there isnt any long term effects from guys running e85 then 94 def wont be an issue
u do notice actually, just a little though. car responds better

I've yet to come across a Husky with 94, but more Sunocos converted to Petro are still carrying it, and others being ugpraded to. My car has seen literally nothing but 94 for 2 years now (I got 1 bad tank of 91 and said never again). I wouldn't say I get an increase in power or fuel economy over 91, but after getting that bad tank of 91, it is a little extra security even if it does contain 10% Ethanol.

I agree. If you are getting a little knock, then the computer will pull timing. Otherwise, like I said earlier, you won't see any power increase unless you are specifically tuned for the higher octane.
BTW, anyone knows when they/Petro Canada switches their 94 blend from summer to winter? Is it save to guess that I am running winter blend by late November?
I'd say it's a pretty good chance they would've switched BUT this winter was non existant for the most part so it is hard to say if they would've held it off or kept it business as usual. I hated November it was really warm, my 17" Toyo winters on the SS/TC were marshmellows compared to the stock conti's.
Is this true that I've heard there is a residual fuel in the pump from the previous. Say someone before was putting in 87 then I pull up and select 94, the first 1gallon may be of the 87 that were still in the lines from the previous purchase going into my car? I am just wondering if this is true from the multi grades pump these days. You won't fine the old style where 94 is buy itself without sharing from the same pump of other lesser grades.
What I have noticed...
Stock with 91 "no ethanol" = good gas mileage/good performance
Stock with 94 = bad gas mileage/decreased performance
GMS1 with 91 "no ethanol" = worse gas mileage/good performance
GMS1 with 94 = better than stock gas mileage/better performance
According to the peeps that designed GMS1... it's was tuned using 93 octane, but made to work with 91
I have the pm or e-mail somewhere
Yes.. .please

It must be nice without the Street Racing Law in your province unlike Ontario.
