ATI pulley: honing required?
ATI pulley: honing required?
Hi Gents,
I purchased the 5.5" ATI pulley for my build and per the instructions it appears the inner diameter of the pulley needs honing to achieve the proper interference fit.
Does anyone have experience with this? Can I just use a brake master cylinder hone or do I need to find a machine shop with proper tools?
Crank diameter: 1.102"
Pulley I.D.: 1.099
Specified Interference target: 0.0006"-0.0012"
Thanks,
Daniel

It is a pretty tight fit.. some people will take it apart and put the center section in the oven and then install it.. some will take .005" off the inside so it goes on a little easier. Both are simple solutions. Just don't put the WHOLE dampener in the oven.
