Average Price for Muffler Delete

I'm itching to get the MD on my car and I'd like to see what everyone else paid so I can see if I can find a better deal out there. I was already quoted $70 by Cole Muffler. Just list how much you paid, where you got it done, and how long ago. Thanks.

$25 from Lou's Custom Exhaust in Manchester NH.

They cut the muffler off, welded in a pipe, and welded a hanger on it so it hangs like the muffler did, and welded the stock tip back on.

Paid $80 to cut it off then weld in a straight pipe to use stock tip.

Then got a DP and paid $120 to weld in a Magnaflow muffler because it was way too loud for me.

I guess I got screwed a bit. I paid $100 from Lou's Custom Exhaust in Dartmouth Mass. but I'm not complaining, they did an awesome job. I got the same thing done, cut the muffler, put a small bend in the pipe, welded it and some hangers on and the stock tip.

I had never been there before, so I used a patented technique that has always worked out for me....

I walked in and told the lady at the desk that "my friend had recommended this place because you do great work" and this is what I need....

She tells me to go right into the garage bay and talk to "Jonny"... so I go in and give him the same line.... and he says "your friend was right, $25 cash, while you wait."

They were done in about 20 minutes, and put my muffler in a box in my trunk for me.

buy some pipe for 10 bucks, and cut the old muffler off and clamp that pipe in place with a stock or aftermarket tip.

If you ever plan on going with an aftermarket downpipe I would hold off on doing the muffler delete. When I went to my catless ZZP my car got so much louder that It's almost too loud for me . After what I've seen (and heard lol) I'm a firm believer that the stock catback is pretty free flowing and that they used the dual cats as mufflers on this car lol. The downpipe is definitely the biggest restriction in the entire exhaust .

The car being loud does not bother me. I had an '05 Evo MR with a full 3" catless turbo back exhaust before the SS.

Ok so I called around some more yesterday afternoon and I have an appointment tomorrow to get an estimate. Will I still pass emissions though without the muffler? I thought I would but everywhere I called they said they're pretty sure it wouldn't pass inspection without one. Is this true?

I dont think he wants to travel up to NH for a muffler delete..steve

But then again you never know

It wont cost that much at all, bring it to a friend if one of yours has a shop and cut it and weld a pipe in, its not rocket science at all...

Well, emission test are for the fail haha

I had to worry about inspection. Then I found out that Turbocharged cars aren't required to have mufflers

SRT-4's don't have them stock. As long as your catted still you'll be fine.

muffler doesnt do anything for emissions... just nooise... the cat is what lowers polution, the only issue you will have is it will be loud and if u dont have a guy you know to inspect it, a shop may not pass it...
