best intercooler?

What is the best intercooler that anyone can recommend?

I want something that fits with ease, without major modifications, and that has excellent cooling performance.

Wait a little while and grab a ZZP intercooler. According to their website, the intercooler should be ready to ship late this month. Great performance and a great price.

If you want one now then I would say Hahn's but if you wouldn't mind waiting I would say ZZP's it should be out late this month

^ Like somebody already said

No one makes a good replacement for stock if IMO. They are all way too tall. People keep cracking them and then act dumbfounded. It's below the front lip! One good whack and it will crack. The other thing is that these big ass intercoolers weigh more than stock. For what? It's useless to make them so tall since it's blocked at the lower portion and it blocks the scoop which improves airflow.

Agreed!

If the intercooler is tall and is not getting enough air flow through it, it will heat soak and actually become less efficient.

true true.

I think mpx's is actually going to be shorter than most. I had a convo with them a few weeks ago about it.

I surprised a company hasn't addressed this yet. Does anyone know if you can buy different mounting hardware to change the mounting height? I searched google but couln't find anything.

CPs will not line up if you raised it up. That and there is no room without either going with a small core or removing the crash bar.

Ahh you are correct sorry long day at the office. I got used to fabricating crap for my old 6.5 Turbo Diesel. No one makes stuff for those you wouldn't believe how long it took to put a Cummins intercooler on my 6.5 diesel. Hmm well I guess we just have to deal with stock or wait til a better one comes out.

There is a big difference in cooling I see back on the stock IC vs before on my Synapse. IAT2's are 10-15* hotter after a pull with the stock IC on the car. No lag difference between the stock and Synapse. Still have not gotten mine fixed due to complications but I need to.

6" tall 3.5" thick 30" long core would work well.

good info.

I am getting the zzp turbo kit.

However, I am spending this winter protecting the car first. Reliability with this kit will be paramount for me.
Forged pistons from wiseco, and a new intercooler, and probably a meth kit to lower temps before I do anything.

Does it really get that warm in Toronto to warrant a meth kit? Or are you looking to run a lot of timing or have crappy gas?

While you have the head off might as well get ZZP's valve springs

I would figure the meth kit would help cool the entire thing down, no timing reasons or need to add power, and no crappy gas.

I would think a dual tune 325whp (safe, when driven on all the time) and 400whp tune would be quite reliable.

Can the transmission handle it now though?

I'm pretty sure they said they were going to use an 8" tall core. I also asked, and I remember them saying it would be slightly below the lip.

The core size is 3.5 inch thick, 7 inches tall, and 30 inches wide. it shouldnt be at or below the lip
