Big Turbo Coolant/Oil line install

Okay I need sorta a walk through on this.. My Hahn 20G is bolted to the car and is ready for all the lines to be put on.

First question. Where does the line that goes from the valve cover to turbo go? It's completely different than the ko4.

Second question. The line that runs to the oil pan to the turbo an has 2 10mm bolts with a oval gasket? Yeah that line will not reach the turbo. I pulled the line out of the oil pan and now can mount it to the turbo but it's not seated in the oil pan and that's not good.

Third question. Where does this steel line with brass fittings go that came with the turbo? Pretty long oil line. I have it mounted into the turbo now where does the other end go? Over by the oil filter?? I left that long line bolted to the car and just unbolted it from the stock ko4.

Pretty sure with the 20G you have to build your own oil feed and return lines. I forget how you block the coolant lines though

Valve cover to turbo there is only one thing you do. you need to drill a hole your intake, tap it for the proper npt thread and Russell makes adapters to go from 3/8th barb fittings to I believe 3/8th npt. You will need to make your own line of the valve cover line doesn't reach.

The drain you will need figure out for yourself. There's a lot of things you can do. I'm not about to tell you because I'm not sure what the 20g is like and what size the opening is. My best guess is bolt it to the turbo if it bolts up, you will need to grind off the farrel fittings and extend the line down so it seats.

If you have the turbo on good luck plumbing the oil feed it's a bitch with it on. What I don't fully u derstand is if you took off the original oil feed you had to of left the port open. So the brass fitting needs to go to one of the ports by the water neck in the back. the right or left is the best and then the fitting will thread on there. You will need a new crush washer for the brass fitting to block.


These are very basic common sense things and if you couldn't figure it out you should be having a shop do this stuff. sorry if I come across rude but it's things like this that cause people's cars to not be put together properly

There is already a spot for the braided line on the turbo so that must mean that the other end goes into the block. I'll get a new crush washer.

I've got the oil return line installed. Got some inch and a half hose and cut the ends off the stock oil return and hose clamped them to the new hose and it's longer and works great.

I work at a CNC shop and talked to my boss and he is tapping my intake for me tomorrow. So I'm going with your idea. I have the oil feed and return lines hooked up along with the coolant return. Now how did you modify your coolant feed line? My only stumble right now while I'm not at my car. Lol I'm trying to picture how to modify that line in my head... Hope to have turbo install finished Thursday

What i did to modify the lines was just use a pipe/line cutter. then clamp on the appropriate size fuel line and then get the right banjo or barb or whatever for the turbo

hahn recommends you cut the lines but if you dont flare or barb them they will leak.

which do you consider the coolant feed? the one coming from the front of the head down the side of the valve cover to the turbo or the one coming off the thermostat housing?

btw if you dont flare or barb the ends of your line your cutting it will leak.

My oil feed line is a braided line with brass fittings with crush washers. All my other lines are just the stock ko4 lines and I used a pipe grinder to cut them open and get all the ends out made longer by hose clamping a longer line to it all.

Just like that dude up there said! Haha

Question. Doing the intake tapping at my shop today. Can't I get a 3/8 npt to 3/8 fitting at my fastner store??

The fittings aren't a normal fitting. They have a barn so the hose will stay secured

Does it matter what way I route the coolant feed hose to my turbo? It should right because it's pressurized ?

The thermostat housing hose goes to the side of the turbo closest to the firewall. The one that wraps around the engine goes closest to the engine.

okay so my npt 3/8 adapter on my intake is a smudge higher than my valve cover making the oil have to travel on a slight upwards route.. is that okay??

No my stock ko4 coolant feed line will not bolt to the 20G without hitting the exhaust side of the turbo. so I was told to cut the line at the end and make it straight. Bolt it to the turbo and hose clamp a 3/8 hose from that to the return line which would be left right under the intake. lol I got it figured out (:

Just hoping my line I made from valve cover to intake will work okay!
