brand new ecu questions

I bought a brand new ecu, does this need an initial flash by the dealer, or is there something I can do with hp tuners. Is it totally blank as in no programming or anything on a new ecu? Thx.

You will need a clutch relearn done with a tech2 or equivalent. You will also need to do a security relearn instructions for that are on here or zzp site

I'm at the dealer and they're saying this "New" ecu that looks new, is not new and had been flashed before, and is taking longer than usually to do the security relearn. Fml, good thing I only paid $130 for it and through PayPal so I can get my money back if it's shot.

So if you buy a new pcm does it just need to be flashed to your car by the dealer to work or does it already come with programming, was that ever figured out?

Yea a security relearn if I'm not mistaken is a do it yourself thing. Go to zzp website and look up there pcm and go to to the specs of it and it will tell you how to do a security relearn

Yup. Do it yourself. ZZP site, like Booth said. Not that I know what it's doing, but it works.

just curious, before you do the security relearn, does the engine not even crank over or does it crank and just not start up? I'm chasing a bug on my car and not sure what's going on.
