There is a hahn super20g that came up for sale locally for pretty cheap. He's asking $350 turbo only but I can't tell if it's too cheap. I know to look for shaft play/bearing wear but what else needs to be inspected when buying a used turbo? I know it's older technology but I figure even if it needs rebuilt it might be worth buying.

Do the stock oil and coolant lines bolt to the 20g? I understand I will need to run a bov and tune accordingly, any thing else I should know before venturing down this road?

Thoughts?

 

Can someone verify that the stock oil/coolant lines hook up to the 20g?

 

The LNF one has an adapter make sure it has that not just a S20g

 

Afaik the oil lines need to be made, the stock line do not bolt up.

 

Make sure its comes with the adapter piece. Then I would get all new hardware and gaskets and the turbo rebuilt. I just put one of these on my car used barely.. for 800 bucks. I also have full bolt ons with the fuel lobe cam and we dynoed at 418whp 390ftlbs at 25psi. lol car is a monster! to me anyway


your gonna need to buy zzps turbo oil feed and return line kit then you have to custom your own coolant lines which isnt to hard. I did my own, Its legit if you do it right. You could custom your own oil lines too like I did but I wish I would have known about the kit ahead of time lol. you can message me if you ever get this turbo and ill tell you how.

 

If this is the guy from Des Moines, that turbo has crazy shaft play for the miles he claims are on it. Even being a dry journal bearing turbo it shouldn't have the amount play it did. There is a reason he can't sell it.

You get used to it. My k04r and meth tune was fast but now on my 7163 I'm used to it so its kinda like driving the same

 

I got used to it, then didn't drive it for a month, first run after new clutch and 4.05 trans break in, beat a TD05 20G Legacy GT that make 355whp on a DJ had 2 lengths on him in like a 40-120 roll....


Then I was like...Damn its not that slow.

I used to think foxbody 5-0s were quick lolol compare it with that.

 

when I would punch my 400/440 ls1, I always thought it was fast, that sotp feel!
