CABS or Control arms
CABS or Control arms
So my CABs are toast. I can hear nothing but squeeking and clunking when i come to a stop or when I accelerate. Should I just buy CABs or new control arms? I have 67k on my car right now, lowered with CM springs.
I get a really bad clunk all the time. its only audible if im driving slow. I also get a clunk when I stop or accelerate.
There is also a CAB Test, if you turn your wheel and kick it it shouldn't move. well mine moves like 2-3 inches. CABs are toast.
I was honestly unaware there is more than 1. I figured the ones OTTP sells were the "bushings" but I don't care much for OTTP and they say out of stock anyway.

Here is a set of control arms, the left and right in this picture being the driver side and passenger side respectively, with the top being the front of the car. In this picture you can see the leading CABs on the insides and trailing CABs at the bottom.

Close-up of a leading CAB:

What a torn trailing CAB looks like:
Yep, replaced with Moog endlinks a few months ago.
Ah that makes sense, then yes the trailing CAB is what im referring to
Yep. Usually people on here are referring to the trailing spherical ones.

You must be extremely careful when pressing out the TCABs. If you don't press it out straight, you may ruin the arm. It's easiest to just buy the arms with everything installed straight from John Powell.
The moog ones can come loose...double check them. Otherwise ya see if you can look at your CAB's, they usually tear and make some noise, but I thought the stock ones would last a while..unless you beat on your car..then I can easily see that being the reason, hahah.
ok I will get under there and re torque them before I buy new CABs. I dont beat on my car on the day to day, and have only went to the track 1 time since ive owned it. but i bought it used with 53k miles so i dont know what the previous owner did.
Do you know how much they cost Wang? i tried emailing but I get no response.
no problem so far.
it was on my 2,2 ion for 130k km. i put just on driver side to test it on my tc.
i can understand you want sell part. but that was just my opinion about control arm bushing.
