Car Blew a Headgasket I'm hoping...

Well, I was doing a pull cause some people wanted a ride in my car. It was from a 70 to the end of 4th. I got there and the engine just lost all power. It starts misfiring and the low coolant light comes on so I get off the road and pull in a park and ride. As soon as I pull in to a parking spot my oil light comes on and the car shuts off. Oil and water is all over the front of the block. Hoping its just a head gasket. Prob going to try getting a better one this time around if it is. Shouldn't be a sleeve as I am running a built block and wasn't like I was doing a pull right after a pull so unless it got heatsoaked during the pull itself which makes no sense because air would be rushing over everything, idk what happened.

Yeah, for sure. It seems to have lost compression on all cylinders except for one. When you try to crank the engine you just hear "spshh spshhh spsshh" and like the sound of one cylinder actually having compression. I'm hoping it just lost all compression due to the headgasket failure and quit. If so I believe I'll upgrade to a performance autowerks mls gasket rather than run the stocker. Hope you have better luck than I do man!

Dude, this car sees way less abuse than any number of these cars that go to the drag strip. I was told by Matt specifically not to do any back to back pulls on 29psi and I did not. I haven't even ran anything. The car is on a built block made to handle a good bit more power than what I am running. Here's this, you go get an S256ET, make over 500whp on a mustang dyno, and let me know when your internals are laying on the ground. I do not beat on my car, **** I have only had the car back on the road since yesterday and even then I still had air in my clutch line. I never ever do back to back pulls. The car always sees 2+ miles before ever doing another pull.

LOL reacted just how I figured u would, anyways your last thread ur even admitted that ur knew something was wrong with ur clutch and it was slipping but u kept pushing it and it failed on u and u have ur car back 1 day and ur doing back to back 4th gear pulls and blow up the engine. You may wanna reconsider owning a sports car maybe a smart car would be a better idea.

LOL, wow, you are retarded dude. Where in here did I say back to back 4th gear pulls? Yeah, my clutch slipped once, I thought I grabbed 5th, so I try again and it was indeed in 3rd and slipped again. After that I shut the car off then took it directly to my garage to diagnose the problem. Please let me know how that was wrong. Yoir logic is completely, unimaginably, retarded.

no offense. you seem like a cool guy on the forums. but pulls like that IS beating the **** out of the car more than those of us who take it to the track. i've done a 4th gear pull twice, ever ... since '08 when i got in the cobalt game. one of was in june of '11 and the other was just two weeks ago. the only thing thats ever failed on my car were the bearings and that was just knock from pump gas, not anything i, nor zzp did. hell my bone stock transmission has about 40 passes on it now, all above 500hp and its still together.

also another note, 2miles is hardly any time at all to cool down. when you're going 70 thats less than a minute a mile. even if you do 5 miles that ain't enough time. your coolant may be back down but think of the heat in the metal itself from all the combustion cycles you just put it though. Ryan was with me the first 4th gear pull i did in the car last year logging. i don't even think i hit 7k, drove another 2 miles, pulled into a parking lot, stopped, let the engine idle opened the hood and the manifold was STILL glowing. and it was like that for a few minutes after.

sorry still not done, getting upset holds no merit when driving a modified car. once you take a car away from stock don't be surprised if something breaks. just cause you have a built engine doesn't mean its unbreakable. just means its better than stock.

I completely understand that. But also what I don't understand is how is a drag strip not harder on a car? You're going from a dig at low speeds right after you have heated up your tires which heats the **** up out of your engine because you aren't moving. Then you do a 1st -4th pull....I don't get how that isn't harder on the car. Thats basically like doing 2 pulls back to back.

because my cooling system is far great than yours intercooler and coolant system. i'm also starting my pass at about 165*-170* and ending it at 180*. and negative on the 4th. i've yet to pull 4th at the track. and no its not basically like doing to pulls back to back because a 6 second burnout is comparable to...well nothing

I have the 4.45 like every other built lnf making this kind of power and I also can't rev as high as you like EVERY lnf which means I'd have to run to the top of 4th in the quarter to trap around 130+, especially with a smaller slick. Cmillers car saw way more abuse on a base tune. He wasn't even dyno tuned. And here his stock block lasted him for a damn good while, stock headgasket as well. This gasket or whatever gave should have lasted atleast that long. I'll find out later when the head is pulled.
