Car not running right

I got my car tuned sunday, and was running perfect ! tune was awsome i had 22lbs of boost, later that night i was doing a 2nd to 3rd gear pull then let off in 3rd and heard a pop, i thought it was the exhaust though. Then the car died on me and when i started it back up it was running like **** ! misfiring, black smoke, and not staying on.. when it was started the boost would jump all the way up to 25+ !! my tuner came back out and we checked to make sure all of the pipes were on and not cracked and everything was okay! we unplugged the maf sensor and the car ran fine, but no boost.. he said i probably cracked the end tank on my intercooler. do i have to take off my front bumper to check? it was throwing codes for map sensors. I had gms1 before i got tuned and have been having map sensor problems since ive had the car. (5th sensor) i have catless downpipe and a kn intake. took it to the dealer and they cant even figure anything out lol ... i asked them to check for any boost leaks and the guy just told me to pick the car up if i wanted to diagnose it my self so later today i will pick it up . just looking for input and ideas. thanks everybody. the car is running just no power nor boost and is backfiring alottttt...

lol that should be your first concern! and yes front bumper has to come off to check the end tanks thoroughly!

The part of the endtank that cracks faces the front bumper. You can shove your finger up there and try to feel for a crack. It's not hard to remove the bumper cover, though. Be searching about right here:

I got me a ZZP intercooler as well, man that thing is large. Just waiting to install it this weekend. I'll probably find a hole in my endtank as well.

The hole is bigger then my hand, it was blown on the cold side. The damn dealer had the car for a full day, charged me 90 dollar diagnostic fee, and still couldnt figure out what was wrong with the car ..! i was furious. i had to take the 350 out of my savings -_-

Yeah, most of the dealer-techs in my area are clueless.

btw, once you replace the IC, just reset your battery and all will be well.

Note: Before you take your car to ANY GM dealership, ask the following question of the mechanic and/or service manager; "What engine comes in a 2008-9 Cobalt SS?"......

I'm probably going to install mine today after work or tomorrow. I know they have a how-to on it. Always a good place to start for tips.

It's pretty simple, but there are two different methods: pulling the headlights and pulling the fender liners. I prefer pulling the fender liners. Most prefer pulling the headlights. If you need any pics, let me know. I don't have a how-to, but I have some pics to look at if you get stuck. Just take your time and you'll get it.

Dealers do not know anything besides maintenance and washing the car before they give it back.

I was going to mention a tip, since we're on "looking for fukked up stuff under a car" - a light source and a video recorder works wonders for looking for busted up stuff in small spaces. I used to take my old Flip and light up under the vehicle (or in the engine compartment) and take vids of places where my head wouldn't fit. Great way to occasionally find stuff that's gone wrong where you can't see it.
