Turbo Sedan Will Not Start!

Hello Y'all, my name is Keith, and I am from the Buffalo, NY area! I own a 2009 Cobalt SS Turbo Sedan in Victory Red!

Now this past November, I parked it in my garage for the winter. I started taking it apart, to get my turbo off, and do other minor work on it. I ended up getting the K04R, and I just installed that on the car. I had the valve cover off, and intake manifold off as well, and replaced the gaskets on those. I replaced a bunch of other gaskets, and got a few other parts on the car.

I just put the car back together yesterday, and I went to start the car. The car lights come on, the dash lights come on like normal, and when you turn the key to "ON" it does nothing. You can hear the relays click but that is it. The fuel pump makes its normal noise, and so does the throttle body but no attempt to actually turn over.

The security light does not come on or anything. I have checked fuses, and even tested them. I checked the relays, and they all worked. I cleaned the battery terminal, and battery cables. I tried a different battery, I tried jumping it with another battery as well. I cannot seem to figure it out. I voltage tested the starter, and got 12 volts on the constant power. I couldn't test the key power though.

But what would it be? The car has not started in 2 months, and everything was fine when I put it away. Why would it now not start after the turbo install and such. I just do not understand why it will not even click like it is going to start. Any advice would be helpful!

Verify your grounds. Does the starter even click lightly like it's starting to engage?

I will have to check into the neutral safety switch. I have laid under the car when someone has turned the key, and it did not even click. Also, I did not have the fuse box out.

I did change my intermediate steering shaft though. Is it possible I hit the clutch safety switch, or is that the neutral safety switch? I looked for the sensor, but my LNF doesn't have it like right behind the pedal. I cannot find where it would be, or how would I even test that. You can see in the picture, that the one sensor is not there like it shows.

The switch is not there at all? You didnt by chance bump it off the bracket? Could be dangling somewhere. The circuit is open unless it is pushed.

I do not see it at all. I mean look at those pictures I attached. Unless that is only for the LSJ. There is not even a bracket for it, or that contact part on the pedal as you can see. I do have one that looks like this. The part number is 15192340. I will attach a picture. It is higher up on the pedal though. Could that be the issue? There is no way I would have bumped that though with how high it is. Also, where is the neutral safety switch?

I believe that is upper one for cruise control. The one that closes the starting circuit is at the bottom. Follow the bottom of the clutch pedal up until you hit a little platform. Above that is the switch

Okay so new news as of last night. I took the starter off of the car, and it worked when I bench tested it. I tested the wires to the starter, the main one receiving 12 volts, and the other when the key was turned got like 1 volt. We tried the jump the starter on the car, but then it would not engage the flywheel and try to turn the car over. We then found a way to bypass the starter relay and turn the car over, and start the car up. So with rigging it to turn over with bypassing the starter relay it runs. But when you still try starting it yourself, nothing happens. So this must mean that something is broke inside the car correct? Whether it be the safety switch or whatever. Any ideas?

Hey I was wondering if you figured out your issue ?
I had the same issue Saturday after driving my car to a soccer game to come out 2 hours later and nothing ; had all my lights working etc but no sound from the starter or engine (would not crank over )
bump started it and drive it home and starts up no problem ; took it to work today and starts ..
so not sure the issue just scared it's going to do this again and I become stranded ..
same thing can not see no neutral safety switch in my 08 lnf ; lsjs are right there ..,
thanks

The LNF uses an actual position sensor for the clutch instead of just a switch.

start with the low hanging fruit first. Get the battery and alternator checked.

I am in the exact same boat. I took everything apart for the timing chain and head gasket etc. Put it back together and it won't start. Bypass the starter relay and it turns over.

Did you ever figure out the issue?
