Clutch pedal sticking to floor

Last night I was driving and when i went to shift the clutch pedal sank to the floor and I couldnt go into any gear. i=I had to clutchless shift all the way home I have a ky stage 3 clutch that was installed about a month ago. what could this be?

Is it stuck as in if u pull it comes back, or stuck as in u press it and there is no pressure and it stays there

TurboMatt 05-03-2012 11:01 AM

well I can pull it up by hand but otherwise when I step on it, it stays to floor unless I pull it back up by hand and either way whether its up or done I cant go into gear.

Air in system or leak. Bleed it.

TurboMatt 05-03-2012 11:20 AM

Ok Im gonna bleed it when I get to work and see if that works. Thanks

Sounds like you blew out the throwout bearing. If you have fluid coming out of the bottom of the casing, that's what it is.

^this or you just lost all of your fluid due to a line failure (if there was a line failure of any sort it would more than likely happen where distribution block meets the clutch pipe). How does the brake pedal feel? Have you checked the fluid reservoir?

I'm glad that you've gotten such great feedback from the community so far, TurboMatt! I hope you're able to find out what's going on with your clutch tonight. As always, I'm here if you need anything.

yeah its the throw out bearing/slave cylinder. Is it weird that I just installed the throwout bearing and clutch barely a month ago and it already went bad?

SSlobalt 05-04-2012 11:23 AM

You don't want to hear this, but we make 90% of our own problems. I don't exactly what could have gone wrong with the installation because I still have yet to try this, but something likely did. Either that, or the stock TOB couldn't handle the resistive pressure given by the pressure plate.

Either way, sorry about you bad luck. Now you have to pull it all back apart again. I'm hoping you didn't end up with fluid all over your clutch plate.
