clutch problems

i was driving around today, and just about when i was getting home i get the smell of clutch getting into my car... i thought it was kinda odd but didnt think anything of it.

then the pedal dies. i cant shift into gears because the clutch just wont work.

so far from what i have achieved, just by timing rpm to gear ive been able to shift the car. and noticed that in 5th gear low rpms, the clutch doesnt slip. so i know the clutch is still good.

first gear engages like normal when the car is on a standstill.. when im driving and i push the clutch pedal it revs like if i were disengaging the clutch all like normal...

however when im driving and i go to shift the gears wont go in, and after i shift into third the clutch pedal drops all force and dies completely...

summary...
1. was driving having a normal day.
2. start smelling clutch smell.
3. clutch pedal drops.
4. cant get into gears unless rev matched.

oh forgot to add, going to dealer tomorrow, the problem happened last tonight at 8 30pm...

and the funny thing is i was there today to talk to them about the tranny having oil all over it... they said it was just the vent getting the tranny dirty...

kick their ass. You shouldn't be charged a thing and they know it.

They are trying to rip you off.

The guy said it's because he thinks it might be the clutch. But if it's not then I am covered under warraty. But I am tired of paying money when I already am paying for warranty.

Anyway they said they are busy. And my car is gonna be next.

if anyone has any ideas of what it could be please post. It's greatly appreciated

Did you send the car in with the tune on it ? If so ...thats prolly one of the first things they will check . Then you aren't going to have to worry about if it's warrantied or not.

so, i called them up, i keep giving the service guy something to check on my car cause i have been reading the forums... i told him, check the clutch sensor, and now i told him check the slave cylinder.

he then proceeds to tell me that the slave cylinder is considered a wear item...

What is a warranty useful for when 14k miles down the road i have to buy the entire car again. Shitty thing is that i wasnt even pushing the car, just driving regularly...

Slave cylinder failed most likely.

Yes definately. It does not seem like you abuse your car and a slave cylinder is not a wear item so you should be good.

thanks to rukkee for customer service number... Slave cylinder is covered under warranty.

the Chevy Customer service guy says that if they try and charge me any money towards it we cant dispute the dealer.

now i just have to wait and make sure they find out the slave cylinder is cause of the problem.

i wouldnt let them get away with that. i bought a laptop once and 2 weeks later the batt went shot, they tried to tell me it wasnt covered under warrenty, so i raised my voice and bitched them out infront of everyone, till they gave me a new one. I talked to the laptop company later and they said everything is covered under warrenty.

they didnt charge anything, they said that if it wasnt warranty work... ie. i need a clutch... at 14k miles... ROFL... then they would charge the 343 dollars and put it towards the new clutch.

Same thing happened to me a couple months ago. I bought the car with 12K on it and the clutch went out at 19k. Took it to the dealer and they wanted 400 bones to tell me what was wrong with it. They weren't sure if it was the clutch or the tranny. They said if they ripped it apart and it was the clutch, I would have to pay the 400 and they would give me my clutch and tranny back in pieces if I wanted to take it somewhere else for the repair. Ended up filing a complaint with GM, waited a week at $30 per day for a rental, all for them to tell me no dice. I ended up forking over $2000 for a new clutch plus rental fees.

Warranties suck. Don't waste your money.

jesus christ...

well, ive had an experience... my dealer called me yesterday, the one that i bought my car from and the guy said ive got some bad news...

im sitting here thinking christ its the clutch, then he told me the dealer was closed down...

so after my car was being checked out by my dealer which is now closed down, i had to transfer it to another dealer. they are charging me 500 instead to do a tear down to inspect the car.

ugh the problems i have to go through with a car thats so new...

they said the clutch is destroyed... im going to go see it tomorrow...

i really hope they are not screwing me out of 2k dollars...

thats what i wanna know!!!!

they say that because of the smaller pulley i put on the car and blah blah...
he tried comparing me to someone who had a supercharged balt... that apparently he told him he wasnt driving hard and they found 3 speeding tickets in his glove box...

i dont know.. i was just driving and the clutch died...
im tired... broke i dont have money to pay for this... and i probably wont be able to pay for the car if i have to fix it...

they told me its the clutch... they said its gone... and i told them so how would that happen in 14k miles... and then thats when they told me the story of the SC cobalt...

i was like this is bs.. you see me and see that im young and i drive a cobalt so you wanna charge me for something that should be covered by the warranty that i pay for... anyway, im researching it to see if i dont have to pay anything...

the car only has 14k miles 14189 to be exact... it shouldnt need a new clutch.

I thought the clutch was only covered for one year or 12,000 miles.
