Clutches for SS/TC

If anyone was concerned about which clutch to go with:

Above 400hp ---> SPEC Stage 3+

Below 400hp ---> SPEC Stage 2+

dual spring tripple puck with dog style syncros in the tranny and all straight cut gears, that would be ******* sick **** right there. pop the clutch for the launch then jam the shifter into each next gear with no clutch pro stock style boo yah!

i havent used their products ive always used centerforce products and they are awesome never had a problem till we put a nitro methane motor on a tripple puck and exploded the disc definately a must to get an aftermarket racing bell housing when making 800hp and above also get a multidisc pack when exceeding 900 hp

CM is the fail company

For Cobalts, SPEC is pretty damn good from what I hear and I know people who have high HP cars and have had no issues, that's why I decided to go with SPEC

Even though SPEC might say this, I would do this:

Above 300hp ---> SPEC Stage 3+

Below 300hp ---> SPEC Stage 2+

Better to go larger, than not large enough, do it once, do it right, and save...

That is why sometimes SPEC has had complaints as the customer "under buys" the clutch and the clutch is not strong enough for their setup...

i have a SPEC clutch on my 2.4, and it's been fine. my only issue was that it came with a slave cylinder and that ended up needing to be replace, but that could have very well had to do with my install.

Below 400hp=stock

Seriously.

And everyone I have talked to about spec has had nothing but issues.

I would stick with Exedy personally.

I talked with one of the high HP Cobalt guys, if not the highest on CSS, and he is running the same clutch I just purchased and he has had no problems. I talked to many people about which clutch to choose. He also told me his buddy has an Exedy clutch and he said he has had nothing but problems with it since day 1

Good luck man, I know the stocker isn't a piece though.

I say wait for it to give up, then replace it.

That's what I was thinking at first but the stocker is slipping @ 360tq, could you imagine 400+?

BlackSS/SC had to switch to the Spec 3+ b/c of the problems he was having with the Exedy

Mine will slip at 320+(psykotuned with a catless dp, but I haven't put it on a dyno yet) if I don't gradually drive around harder and harder.

Once I get it warmed up I can do whatever I want with it.

I dunno...but I didn't know about all that...hmm then Spec is FTW.

Well, don't purchase a clutch with out a fly wheel.

The TC one is smaller than the SC one.
