Cobalt ss turbo air leak through PCV

I finished all the Mods this weekend and shot up to BYT for a tune. During the tune he noticed that I had some issues with knock and my timing was all over. He said I might have an air leak. We went back to his house and narrowed it down to the pcv connection coming from the intake hose. He gooped some RTV on it and we went back out. Problem solved. My question is, is this common? I would like to solve it permanently not just with rtv. I have the ZZP intake tube with the metal Pcv coming out of it. Could that be at fault? I will say that the car is a beast after the tune. I dont know if the boost gauge is correct but it does crest 24psi. It moves. Going to try it out for a while. It might be a bit much for a DD. I may ask to scale it down a bit. Thanks Dennis

That nipple is a common failure on the stock tube. I'm not familiar with the ZZP one.

Do you have the hose clamp on the silicone portion?

yes. The metal tube is pushed in the silicone hose and clamped. It is tight. The leak was coming from the actual connection. The plastic housing that pushes onto the metal tube. We disconnected it and put rtv on the metal pipe and stuck the connection back on and he said it was fine when we went back out. Can this cause an air leak and throw out erratic numbers for timing and knocks when tuning? If so my concern is that it will leak again. Im not sure but maybe the metal tube diameter is off or the plastic connection is worn.
