CP-e willing to make an intake for the LNF if 20 people are interested

Went there today with my co worker to CP-E to get an intake for his Mazda Speed 3 and when talking to the woman there, they would use my car to design and build it if enough people are intestested. They do alot of work on DI motors and said they would design anything for the cobalt if the demand is there.

My co worker's intake was 212 bucks so they're prices are great and for anybody in Southern MD they're local.

Their website : http://www.cp-e.com/

Let me know how many are interested and I'll gladly donate my car for development and testing.

I'm interested, but not going to say I'll buy it. I already have the HAHN which is doing justice, but if they have a better design I will purchase.

As soon as someone figures out how to make the air flow more laminar by the time it hits the MAF, it will be the winner.

Between Vararam and CP-e we should be able to get a correctly functioning intake. I'm in.

I'm pretty much waiting for someone to build one correctly with no problems, until then I'll keep the stock airbox. If they build a good functioning one I will be in.

I feel the same way. I want an intake so bad, but waiting until I see results. I want to know that it is not going to skew an readings.

No one is just going to buy an intake. I don't know why everyone think s these things are not functional. The intakes already out are functional. They work and they don't provide a CEL. Honestly you need to get tuned for it. No intake that comes out is going to be perfect.

I'm emailing them to find out what they can make for my car and I'll post the results of everything here. The MS3 is a DI motor and they don't have any of the issues we have with our cars. They were overconfident that they can get it right.

Is there anything in particular I should have them design it against? Pros and Cons of the other intakes?

The MAF housing's ID should be as close to the ID of the stock intake as possible to keep the fuel trims as close to stock as possible. The portion that couples to both the intake tube and the turbo would be made of aluminum or steel and would gradually taper in diameter from 3.25" to 2.5" and would use smooth long radius bends like the Hahn intake uses not a very sharp 90* bend like the AEM Elbow uses.
This is probably what you need to read. It's in the LNF performance section as a sticky. First thing written on thoughts of all intakes currently for the LNF. HAHN seems to be the best. That's what I'm running currently and have 0 issues. Didn't have to do anything extra to get installed not even move the MAF and it's all perfect.

Same. If CP-E can build a functional intake that doesn't produce skewed maf problems, they will get a TON of business. Our only other hope right now is with the varam intake. With that one being designed as ram-air, I can imagine it will carry a nice price tag. If cp-e can produce a typical CAI without the typical maf problems, at a typical price, they will see a lot of business.

I'm in on one condition:

Design the intake in such a way that the air flowing past the maf is smooth and laminar and the intake does not require tuning of any sort to work properly. So far no one has been able to do that.
