Crankcase and Main bolts?!?
Crankcase and Main bolts?!?
Hey guys i'm doin a rebuild on my lnf and i was wondering if the crankcase and main bolts are torque to yeild bolts??? And if anybody has the torque specs for the conneting rods and crankcase, i've gotten tons of specs already but my engine builder was questioning the specs and bolts so i just wanna see if the ones i got from alldata are correct?? Thanks!!!
Connecting rod bolts:
First pass: 18 lb/ft
Final pass: 100 degrees
Crankshaft main bolts (bed plate)
First pass: 15 lb/ft
Final pass: 77 degrees.
Looks like the main bolts are torque to yield, so I'd replace them. That and its cheap insurance in my eyes. New bolts vs spinning a bearing.
