So i don't know if i'm right here or what, or what the deal might be, but heres the case.

I took my car in for service on April 27th, 2010 and wanted them to check the brakes while they were looking at it and had the wheels off. I don't think it was done because they didn't want to look at them, because it wasn't on the service appointment. When they checked it, it was marked as this.. RIGHT FRONT - 8mm RIGHT REAR - 8mm ... LEFT FRONT - 8mm LEFT REAR- 8mm. I don't know what the wear is like on these brakes and even if that number was true, but my car was 10 months old at that point with about 11,402 km on it.

Now i took the car in yesterday, got it back and the brakes were recorded as this.. Front Brakes Wearing Normally and REAR OUTSIDE AT 8mm INSIDE AT 4mm. Pads need to be worn to 1mm in less than 39,000km (to be warrantied)

This is what my thought is, they didn't actually check the brakes in April because they were recorded at 8mm, and now my car has 17,173km, so i think in 6000km later the pads would wear a bit in 6,000km when i drive my car everyday.

Whats your guys' thoughts on this?

 

i had 43,000km and my inner pad on each rear wheel was steel on steel. I drive 90% highway so it's not like I do a whole lot of braking. I had to fight for them to warranty it since rotors and pads needed to be replaced but they finally did after I called GM Canada.

Search around on the forums though, this is a huge problem. Everyone is having the same issue, some worse than others. The rear brakes are garbage.

 

totally normal for stock rear pads, rear inside pads wear out retarded fast where the outside pad wears normal, ur not alone, everyone with the ss/tc had this issue, replace the rear pads with something other then stock and ull be fine, hawk pads are the common solution.
