cut out and engine light

Ok so the other night I was pulling out at a stop sign and eased out in 1st gear once I got rolling a bit I stabbed the throttle and grab 2nd with traction on the car then cut out terribly and the engine light flashed a few times. Well a few days later me and a couple friends take it up the road and we ran it a little and it didn't cut out or anything but the engine light came on. Any idea what it would be I all ready called the dealer to take it in just wondering if anyone else had that happen. Thanks

Flashing CEL is a misfire, solid is something else, no way to know without you getting the code pulled by autozone, or other place that can hook up to your computer.

FLASHING CEL IS NOT A MISFIRE! How many people don't understand this. Flashing CEL means "whatever is happing at that instant is immediately damaging to the catalyst (aka catalytic converter)"

Most of the time it does turn out to be a misfire but that is not what a flashing CEL means

The reason why I said that a flashing CEL is a misfire is because that is what the 2009 Cobalt user manual says it is. /end thread

Oh and the 2 I got I pressed the onstar button and they were both misfires.

What was the temperature outside when the misfire happend, what was the temperature of your coolant, how long had the car been running. Let me know cause if your car was fully warmed up and it was not that cold out then you may want to check your plugs.

I don't know who told you that but a flashing cel is always a misfire. On every car made in the us since 1996! That doesn't mean there there won't be other codes stored also, but if it flashed your misfiring.
