Actually for just 0-60, 1/8, 1/4 and hp you only need the software. It uses GPS for speed and the accelerometers in the phone.

The OBD gives you access to most of the cars sensors. Boost/Vacuum, AIT temps, AFR and tons more.

You can also data log the info with the software.
