E-85

I see everyone talking about E-85. Does anyone know if anyone is working towards perfecting this for the lnfs?

Thats because we can put bigger injectors in. They are limited to how much fuel they can deliver, so they cant run straight E85

Even raising the fuel pressure via Trifecta to 2700 psi I ran out of injection window in the 4500 rpm high load areas on E85 and went too lean. Tripped a low fuel pressure & reduced engine power CEL at 6k also.

Tuned for 1:1 E85 & 93 is the fastest for me. Ya, there are threads on here and the HPT forum as well as GMSC that I keep updating with some logs & screencaps.

The last E85 pull & data are here...

So do you have to be tuned for a 50/50 mix with these cars?

Absolutely! Motor will run poorly if at all, and even if the motor did run perfectly fine, without the propper setup you will not net any of the benifits that the e-85 could give you. Which is generally MUCH more timing. I think Iam Broke is running something like 20* max timing up top. I'm sure he can explain in much better detail.

The car might run in closed loop but stay out of open loop.

We have no means for Stoich correction for different fuels in the limited tables available to us. To correct for the difference between E 10 93 and E85 I had to shift the MAF freq table ~+26% to compensate. In short, I fooled the ECU into thinking it was getting much more air to give it enough fuel but even at grossly increased fuel pressures it was still not enough.

A 1:1 mix of E85 and E10 93 octane requires about a 14% positive shift to get the A/F ratio (Lambda) correct.

I run 23* from around 4500 rpm up, I could run more but it gets too hard on the rod bearings I'm told.

YOU CANNOT RUN IT WITHOUT A TUNE!

It will shift the LTFT's to the point of a CEL and would run like crap.

The only time the LNF goes open loop is on a CEL or if the Air Load is > than around 230% as near as I can tell.
I'm open loop in most of my hard pulls up until around 5500 rpm. You have to have the MAF correction table dialed in well to maintain a good AFR. Mine prefers .89 on the 48% E mix. (1:1)

Another AZ TC corn sipper here

I've had great success with only using a 4:1 mixture but alas, it's time for more

Yo FF Ace, guess the Ethanol/Gas mix is better than the meth after all, eh?

And that is correct, if it wasn't for IAB, I'd have never tried mixing. After the first couple of times we spoke about it and I saw his results, I had to try it!

Thanks Tom!

Well I'm running the 50/50 of e85 and 91 I'm also running devils own methanol injection with a 50/50 mix of water and meth. Now that I have my own hp tuners term and I can get my car dialed in

Sorry, wasn't a shot at you. Just laughing about the ridiculous debate in the last thread.

5 gals of E10 91 or 93 pump gas + 5 gals of E85= 47.5% Ethanol. Not too tough at the same pump, just two card swipes. No chemistry class. lol.
