What are your mods? I am going to go E47 here soon but am worried about my Intercooler

Twoozofjuice 09-05-2012 08:14 AM

hmmm hows e47 diff from e85? I know 50/50 mix but i mean is it just gains not as much and mpg doesnt drop as much? lol

jealous of fross now...wish i got nudies from james. all i get are sexy tunes :/ lol

james btw i know you told me to log a few days ago but umm i decided to wait till i changed my oil which i did sunday and i changed my transmission oil on monday hoping it would solve that 1-2 gear hesitation. it did not lol. ill rewire and log asap.

The biggest reason lnf guys run blends like e30, e47, e60 and not straight e85 is purely based on the fueling limitations we have. Port injected guys can easily get around this by upgrading their fuel system to accomidate the much greater fuel demands that e85 poses, lnf's just dont have that option unless installing a 5th injector setup or even cams with a larger fuel pump lobe. Plus the power gains from e47 to e85 are minimal anyways. It's just far easier to pull up to a pump a pump in e85 instead of having to mix fuels.

FrossB 09-05-2012 08:48 AM

words of truth ^

ah ok. so useless for me to run e47 then. lol.

just upgrade injectors, fuel pump, and umm not sure what else n i can do e85

sebleroux08/tc 09-05-2012 09:40 AM

Is stock ic alright to run e47 on stock turbo? It will prob blow eventually. Aha?

Yep, pretty much. No stupid fueling "work arounds" needed like on the lnf.

Yes the stock ic "should" be fine. There is always a chance of blowing out one of the end tanks regardless of which fuel you go with so it's never really a bad idea to upgrade just for the peace of mind.

Technically, you can run lower boost pressure and still get more power than with gas, so if you have that sort of restraint, it's safer for your stock IC.

sebleroux08/tc 09-05-2012 12:56 PM

Awhh okay I do plan on upgrading it butt zzp are back ordered for months now ahah I wanted frogstalls ic but its insane to ship

So about how much is an estimate for a new fuel pump and injectors for the lnf to run e85 with full bolt ons? Thanks.

Chevycobaltss3 12-09-2012 09:34 PM

Higher elevation lnfs can run full e, same thing with most stockish lnfs... But boost/ramp is varied on each to actually run it

is that cause there's less air up there, therefore less fuel needed to match it? i dunno if i understand that fully.

Chevycobaltss3 12-10-2012 04:54 PM

Yes sir.. You can make any LNf run full ethanol, but it'll limit your boost and ramp

nobody2u 12-10-2012 05:02 PM

Wish they sold E47 here. Hell, you can't even get 93 octane.

jacream_booSSted 12-10-2012 05:05 PM

yeahhhh e85 is hard to come by around here.

user 72239 12-10-2012 05:07 PM

I cant wait to run E85 in the Summer. Im thinking april will be warm enough for it.

Theres a couple guys out here who run it 100% of the time, but we are at 5500 ft above sea level. Its a pain to cold start, takes a few times to actually crank then it runs like shit till its warmed up. Thats why I want to wait for summer. E47 wouldn't be too bad but I dont want to mix fuels.

Chevycobaltss3 12-10-2012 05:13 PM

I have two guys on full e out I that elevation ..

jacream_booSSted 12-10-2012 05:16 PM

yeah i don't care about the cold starts but what do i need that extra power for in winter lol. spring/summer is when everyone comes out to play ;)

jacream_booSSted 12-10-2012 05:21 PM

i know james love E :D

CobaltSS89 12-10-2012 05:36 PM

I get some for you guys and ship it to you  i don't need no nudies of james he slept at my house ;)

yeah or until your phone gets smashed and you didn't put it on your computer. :r: lol.

but in all seriousness i think i'll go e47 in spring

CobaltSS89 12-10-2012 06:42 PM

No i would get them printed out

But, it cost 3.15 down here but i run the full e85 sadly I'm only SC though :(

Sonicyeller 12-10-2012 07:46 PM

I love me some full E85. :guns: I live at 6000ft above sea level though. The lowest elevation I've taken my car to on full E85 is about 5000ft.

The reason you can get away with full E85 at high altitude is because of the thin air. Less air = less power = less required fuel. My best trap on E85 is 110.5mph with a density altitude of 8600ft. If you correct that to sea level with good weather, it's about 116mph. So theorethically, if you brought some of the fastests stock turbo Cobalts to my altitude and I raced them, it would be a pretty damn close race from a roll.

I quit running my E85 tune at the start of October -- too difficult to start and it would set the check engine light on for cold start misfires. Come April though, that shit is getting flashed back on.

jacream_booSSted 12-10-2012 08:46 PM

hell yeah dude i can't wait to get on E!!

kdub1492 12-10-2012 08:54 PM

I ran e47 for a while and it was not bad, don't know if I will go back in the spring, we shall see

jacream_booSSted 12-10-2012 09:11 PM

i heard if you run e85 the EPA pays for your gas...........
