I'm new to this forum so I hope this is in the right place. I have a 2008 Cobalt SS and when it is idling it makes a ticking noise. I know about the fuel pump being loud but this is more of a 3 ticks per second. Has anyone else experienced this? Any help would be be appreciated. I took it into the dealership and they said it was normal :/ I mean come on the car has 8,000 miles on it.

Well, there are different "ticks" out there and some may indicate a problem. But the direct injection system produces a certain ticking sound which is normal. If you are super concerned, post up a sound clip for us.

 

I will get a sound clip up soon. To me it doesnt sound normal but who knows. The performance of the car is fine so im hoping its just one of the di ticks
