Either over reving or a defect are all I can think of. Oh or if the piston came into conttact with the valve it could also.

mine broke. and it broke hard. it sounded like i threw a rod. i shut my car down. let it sit for like ten minutes and started it back up again. when it was idling there was a horrible knock coming from the top end. sounded like someone was hitting the head with a baseball bat. but before it totally broke. it was just a second tick kinda like the DI

Where was the tick sound coming from? Did you take it in to the dealer to get it fixed?

are lsj heads and lnf heads the same internally? cause lsj peeps routinely rev to 7400 with no problems, present company included, some to 8k a couple times here and there with valve springs

Yeah, mine does too. Well, sounds like a dealer visit is now in my future...

Supporting document... It may be about a different engine, but is just as applicable. Check out the "Boost and Valve Springs Section" http://books.google.com/books?id=Ulv...engine&f=false

As we raise boost through HPTuning, Infiniboost, and/or through hardware, we may need to upgrade our springs, since they weren't made to be used with some of the pressures we're running at.

Just a thought...
