Fuel Injection Cleaning

I seached the site for information on 2008 LNF Injection cleaning and haven't found exactly what I am looking for. Here are my questions:

1. The dealer recommended their Injection cleaning for $179.00. I have 30k miles and the car runs fine, should I get this done?

2. If no to number1, then should I do any type of DYI injection cleaning, ie adding an over the counter cleaner to the gas?

3. They also suggested cleaning the Mass Airflow sensor for $70, should I get that done or do it myself?

What do you think/suggest.

Thanks

You can get the cleaners yourself and it's really not that hard to do either of them. For the injectors, use Sea Foam. Can get it at Autozone for like $3 a can. Add to tank and you're good. I always use that on older cars that need the fuel system clean. After 2 bottles my system is almost brand new lol. As for the MAF, I usually use Carb Cleaner. Spray it down really well and let it dry and re-install. Someone hopefully has a better suggestion though.

i dont know much about direct injection but im sure someone on here will have good advice.

as far as the MAF just buy some MAF cleaner at the auto parts store ($5) and do it yourself, very very easy

I have heard good things from mechanics about the BG 44K product. That may even be what the dealer is talking about in their service. You might be able to get it done for less somewhere else though. Also, as the name implies, I think you would do this service after about 40K miles, but it might not be a bad idea to do it early. Check out this link. Maybe you could find another service facility to do it cheaper if you want to go the BG route.

For off the shelf fuel system cleaners, Techron is good. I believe Gumout Regain Complete also has the same stuff as Techron in it. As mentioned, go get a can of CRC MAF cleaner. Just becareful and spray the wires in the MAF sensor carefully, they're rather fragile.

Also, those prices from the dealership are insane. Reminds me of the $600 wax job the finance guy tried to talk me into (detailed microscopic paint sketches and all) and then proceeded to sneak on the final paperwork (which I caught).

im a tech at a dealership. we use bg products because if u use them they will warranty your what ever system u get flushed and get it every 30k. they have 2 warranty options depending on how many miles u have. as soon as i get close to 30k ill use the bg kit. i recommend it.

$70 to clean the MAF and $179 to clean the injectors are they serious? Cleaning the MAF takes 5 minutes max and costs about 50 cents worth of MAF cleaner. Get 2 cans of seafoam. One gets put in the gas tank (to clean the injectors) the other gets gets half a can slowly fed into the intake through the brake booster line (to clean the intake valves). It will cost you a grand total of less than $20 to do it all. $20 vs $250.

You LSJ guys do not have to do the seafoam in the intake as much becuse your intake valves get cleaned every time your injectors inject fuel they clean the intake valves.

Yep but do not run it in the oil for too long before changing it.
