x2

check the evap purge solonoid

---

roughly 30 dollars part, and 2 minute fix

IsItFast? 11-20-2009 03:33 AM

It will also do that if you let it run nearly out then fill up to brimming, or if you brim it up each time. Stop filling when the filler clicks off the first time.

BYT*SS*TURBO 11-20-2009 08:05 AM

Never had this issue, sorry.

BlueStang 11-20-2009 09:42 AM

I use Chevron 92 and never have had that problem

^ this guy hit the nail on the head. I have done this twice. You ran "almost" out of gas. If the DIC says you have 30-40 miles left that means you are pretty much out. Trust me i have ran out of gas plenty of times in our work truck and i know what it feels like. One time i was filling up the balt when it said i still had 34 miles left and the damn thing took like 5 minutes to start. Then i took off out of the gas station and it fell straight on it's face and was very sluggish. Guarantee this is what happened to you. been there done that

I'm not sure but, Crate engine depot may have it? I dont think so tho

turbossdude 11-20-2009 01:55 PM

it happened to me i jus got it fixed from the dealer. it is the evap surdge solenoid its covered under warrenty.

raynrishad 11-20-2009 02:49 PM

I had the solenoid replaced, but all that did was throw a light at me. Never had any problems starting up. Stock or tuned. I have however got the ignition stuck trying to crank once or twice. Know hw we can just barelly turn the key and it does the rest? Well, I did that and it just sat there cranking. Hasn't done it in a long time though.

I've never had it done like that. It is literally everytime I go to the pump rather I have 1/4 of a tank or 3/4 tank, it always does it. it won't start unless I give it gas while its starting and it acts like it cams for about 5 mins of driving. Could it be the Vaccum pressure in the tank, like losing the lack of pressure each time I open the cap??

ok thaks. Where would it be located on the car?? how could I tell something has changed with it?

orbalt08 11-24-2009 07:05 AM

Anyone have a part number for this? I'm not able to find it for the life of me. And I'm experiencing it now too, everytime I open the gas tank to fill up it never fails now.

IsItFast? 11-24-2009 10:46 AM

You know its interesting... had this problem once before, right after I as running on fumes (long story, forgot my gas key, then my wallet, interceptor read 0.0 gals available for about 15miles.. anywho)

After reading through this thread, Ive now had that code set 2x times, but ONLY right after a hard 2nd gear pull with the trifecta tune ON. Doesn't throw the code with the tune off. I'm going to do more experimenting, but to the others getting this code, is it during startup or with an aftermarket tune right after a hard run? Turn on right after you let off.

^^^ X2.

Mine threw a code long before any "problem" was apparent Then, while waiting on the dealer to order the part...after filling up, the darn thing wouldn't fire. It just kept cranking, and cranking, and cranking. After it eventually (sort of) caught, it was idling at only ~250rpm and DIC gave the dreaded "reduced engine power" warning.

Can't wait for this thing's warranty to expire.......
