Should be the same minus the head. Cast pistons, forged rods, crank.

The SS/TC will be far stronger internals compared to the LSJ. I mean come on, common sense says so with forged parts...

i want to throw my 05 ss/sc on the dyno and see what numbers i make

its pretty much stock with an airbox mod but for some reason its faster then an 07 ss/sc and has a 1/2 car in a ss/tc
stock vs stock

Nice numbers. Any chance you have a chart with SAE correction applied? Depending on atmospheric conditions standard can produce higher or lower numbers and SAE (usually a touch higher) and SAE makes it easier to compare to other cars on similar dynos across the country. Either way, I'm not half as interested in the peak numbers as I am in the overall curve. That looks really nice with no giant spikes and solid gains across the entire powerband.

Both engines use cast aluminum pistons, both of which (along with the rods) are made by Mahle.

has nothing to do with it holding the same amount of power. head might flow more, rev limits, etc

It might be able to hold as well or better but there are some significant differences between the two engines. For example the pistons are both cast aluminum but the design on the LNF is completely different due to the direct injection nozzle placement. The LNF also runs a slightly lower compression ratio. The fueling system is also completely different and the direct injection setup with the resultant different flame front in the combustion chamber may prove to have significant differences in how the LNF will make power and what it can support. The LNF also uses the newer and stronger/reinforced Gen II block but still uses cast iron cylinder liners.

Both engines should have similar max power levels they will support but both will probably require upgrades if you really want to push them far and maintain the best reliability. When trying to make direct comparisons between the two you'd also need to consider things like possible uneven fuel/air distribution and high charge temps due to the blower on the LSJ contributing to internal failure when pushed too far, which should no longer be the case with the LNF and the new intake manifold and fuel setup.

There's lots and lots of variables. By the spec sheets they do look similar but a lot of factors may come into play in the power levels the internals themselves will be able to support.

eh it will pretty much be the same power wise, just probably a little better top end with the VVT probably hold a little more boost on pump gas with the 9.2:1 compression vs the 9.5:1 compression. mostly has to do with the tune and how big of a tard the driver is.
