ok this is my situation. there is a kid with a 98 240, there are 2 different engines he could have, the sr20det or the sr20det with vtc and i am pretty sure it is a black top. if its the vtc he has 15 more whp form the non vtc, but the engine is very hard to find and expensive, he bout the engine for $3000. now he has full bolt ons, intake, ic piping, bigger ic, Straight 3" exhaust from the manifold with no restrictions. he is telling me the car is not tuned only running a bost controller. hes telling me hes running 8psi. i know that is a lie that hes running around 13psi. now if hes running 8psi i should walk him faily easily with brake boosting and nls. i have intake, performance ic piping, full 3" ehaust and catless dp peaking at 15.5 psi and holding at 14. so with out a doubt i should be 260/260 at the crank.

so my questions are,
about how much whp do i have? im guessing around 240
with his mods and running only 8psi, will i walk him
with mods and running 13-15 psi, what will the outcome be?

it will be a 40 roll, i will be break boosting and nls. unless you guys think there is a better mph and/or gear to roll and break boost at to guantee a win.

What turbo??? Weight reduction for him? It's going to be close but he has a good chance at beating you.

 

Well if u dont have a tune ur probably just a lil bit over stock. Remember we have that stupid learn down feature.

 

my bad he has stock turbo so its a T-25, 60 trim 56mm BCI-1 compressor, if hes got the vtc its same thing but possibly in a T-04B housing. what are giveaways of the motor i looked at it tonight but couldnt tell much, you cant see the turbo in the damn car but he said its the stock turbo. he also has some weight reduction i believe but its just like rear setas and carpet but that is another factor i muct play into, lets just say hes got back seats removed and upholstrey, ie carpet.

 

I'm tempted to say he might have a BB T28 in it. Just race already! lol

If its stock for stock, Id say u have it in the bag. But it sounds to me hes tryin to play u so I bet hes got a lil more done then what hes sayin.

 

thats what im saying but im he keeps telling me its stock except fopr bolt ons and running 8psi so if hes keepin tru im throwin a buddy in the car for the race so him full bolt ons t25 @8psi, me full bolt ons still on stock tune. i dont have $$ for a tune and if i spend the money im getting trifecta switchable tunes, belive me ive done the research, i want to run him stock.

 

If you value your motor in running order, don't get a Trifecta tune.

Second of all, he's WANTING you to race his "stock car w/ bolt-ons" for money.

I do this all the time. I tell people that my car is just a GM Stg2 car. "How much have you dyno'd" they ask. 260, I tell them. Yeah... I dyno'd 260 once. Is that what I make now? No. Hell, I don't even have a supercharger anymore. "Come on," I say, "its just a GM Stg2 car." They still fall for it. I wax their ass and if betting was involved, I make a couple of bucks.

 

doesnt matter what psi u both are running, some motors make more power on less psi then others, his 8 could be making more then ur 15, i dont know anything about his motor but ya. dont just think cause he has less boost he is slower. a 2.4 ecotec on 8psi makes 290 crank. or so hahn says. race him and see what happens. lol

 

I 12th that, get a GMS1 or a Trifecta/HP tune. If he is racing for money hes probably making 350-400 at the wheels or something stupid. There was a grudge race between 2 guys at San Antonio Raceway for what seemed 6 months and the stuff that went on behind the scene's was redonkulous. Motor swapping, blower installations, hidden NOS systems. If its for green, there is always something not being said about what the other guy has. Always be over prepared, or be prepared to have your a$$ handed to you!

On another note, what are the stipulations of the race? From a dead stop? From a roll? He's RWD so if he can launch you are going to have to play catch up from a dead stop.

im not really getting the input i was thinking i was going to get, i know a ok amount on both these cars i was just hoping someone out there has had experience with this already, i dont think hes got anything special up his sleeve cuz im running my stipulations past him and having my boy ride in his car.

 

how much money are you racing for?? and if needed there is a couple things you can do to increase your boost to 20+psi... on the site somewhere... the pill mod i think and something about clamping a line on the turbo makes insane boost but i have no idea what it will do to your engine

 

If its for money i wouldn't trust him. Your boy could ride in it once day, but come race day things could be different. Ive seen it many times so be warned.

 

im going to get the kid to let my boy ride in it during the race and he can have his boy so nothing can be changed and there will be nothing to complain about, weve both been wanting to race he just seems secretive, but many people tell me hes telling the truth, ill guess well see

dont races this dude until you see him race some one else for money thats wat ive been doing and also in the secne he might have a huge network of friends(ppl lie) see it run i raced a older white subaru legecy he said 300 awhp i was pulin on him and at 140 he finaly got on it and blew by me at about 165 170 in a awd car i have and exhaust and aggresive tune later on he told me 486 awhp he said he was gonna see if i would race for money but he realized who my friends were

 

you are missing 2 points and thats why it's gonna be tough for you to catch him.
sr20det = compression and torque. something i'm sure we are missing and he has a lot of it.
