hahn exhaust rattle

I just bought a new hahn catback and installed it last week. I drove it the next day and after about 30 minutes of driving it started rattling bad. A couple days ago I adjusted the exhaust a little and it removed that rattle, but when I take a sharp turn I can still hear it bump against the under carriage. The rattle seems to be coming from the last bend before the 2nd bolt area. Has anyone had this problem or know a solution? The rattle isn't bad now but it will bother me if I don't get it fixed

Hahn didn't design there exhaust with enough clearance over the rear beam when lowered. Are you lowered? I'm on H&R springs and my hahn exhaust literally sits on the rear beam.

ya you may have to get shorter exhaust hangers. It is known to hit the rear torsion beam.

Yea, my mpx even hits when going over big bumps but I'm lowered about as far as I can go without rubbing my fender lips. Its just something you have to fix if you lower your car.

The kartboy 12mm hangers will work right? I may have to go that route myself.

I'm not lowered yet, but I probably will be next year sometime. I have been researching the hangers while at work (Yea I know, slacker). It seems we need 12 mm poly exhaust hangers, of which the best one for our car seems to be the Kartboy hangers made for the subaru's. Kartboy dot com :: Subaru STi :: 2008-2011 STI :: Kartboy Exhaust Hanger 12mm Single (BLACK)

Has anyone had any experience with these, did they fix the problem? I found one forum that says they did, would like a little confirmation though.

I bought it directly off hahn, took about a month before I got it, so it has to be one of the new ones. I know they redesigned it for lowered cars and a few other reasons; however, if they redesigned it to fix this issue they didn't do a good job lol.

Not lowered yet, eventually will be on pedders. New Hahn Exhaust cost $567 + tax (I live in FL), and shipping.

I heated up the exhaust hanger pins on the car and hammered them up just a tiny bit. I also tried to dimple the exhaust just the slightest bit right at the point of the twisting rear beam. Now it's fairly rare that the exhaust hits, unless the car is loaded up pretty heavily.

hahn actually did something for the cobalt? its been years!

Well lowered and slammed are 2 different things imo. So a lowered car w/ mpx should be great. A slammed car is going to hit with ANY exhaust unless its a 2.5" maybe.

I have a brand new one, and am having the same issue. I went back under the car and if you shake the exhaust a little it hits in two places.

As is, it looks like I'll have to find something to put in around the pipe in those two spots to stop it from hitting the floor of the car.

I take it you have their first version exhaust. Issue seems to be the exhaust rattles against the beam.
If you had the new style exhaust issue there is an issue if you are lowered or not with the exhaust rattling against the heat shield/floor in spots.

They fixed an issue that was only an issue for people lowered and replaced it with an issue for all it seems...

Least the fix is cheap ether way it seems

Product Model # Unit Price Total
3 x Kartboy Exhaust Hangers - 12mm KB-011-BLACK-12mm $8.59 $25.78

I'm lowered on Sportlines and my ZZP exhausr hits my axle over big bumps an rattles. I just learned to live with it. If I was at stock height I'd probably have no issues, but I hate that 4x4 look haha

Im running kartboy hangers and sportlines on my car. It helped w no rattles til a hanger actually broke loose off the pipe, NOT cuz of the polly hangers deep water and bottoming out ccaused this problem, lol. The shop that did the repairs did it correctly but now i have my slight rattle at times. Once i get the $ and the weather is nice out again, im going to take it back and see if they cant adjust some of the hangers to fix this again. BUT to answer your question, YES they work. Hope this helps yaout. BTW youll need 4
