It's easy to get around that, simple in/out loop on the GMLAN.

YES they do knock from the factory

mine didnt knock stock... but it sure as hell does with psycho tune

My 09 TC knocks its got 7k and you can hear it sometimes at part throttle and my 07 SS/SC did the same thing. Both on stock tunes. I dont have the RPD so i dont know how much but it is audible.

I have never seen any knock on my RPD and im tuned and stock at the same time (selectable Tune)

I had a few instances of rattle on speedway premuim a few weeks ago prior to modification. Haven't had it since the last couple fill ups though.
I had never heard it prior to that. ever. Throttle tip in third gear from about 35 was where I heard it.

Besides the actual way to see KR, how can we use this to our advantage? Meaning...I have 100 octane available locally. Can I make use of this through tuning (with timing, etc.)?

This is very similar to my situation. Generally low boost - low rpm is where I notice it. I've tried filling up with other brands of gas to no avail.

If you're able to make a log that means that it's already on HPTuners or something... and if it wasn't, you'd have to pay at least $100 to get credits to read it... which mean that you just spent $80 so you could get $20 in the mail. :lol:

My rpd is showing knock on my car bone stock, up to 9* not even full throttle. Only have 500 miles on it so far so probably just bad gas from the dealer... I hope

You may be the first I've heard that has shown knock on the RPD. Congrats...? lol

Sometimes they have KR for no particular reason. I was pulling onto a street from a friend's house last night and it was showing KR while well within vacuum. It's got to be false knock or something. I didn't hear anything unusual and there's no reason it should have been knocking.

My car was pulling something like 6* of timing in the mid rpm range when i was stock. Showed on the rpd

So, is it possible that the RPD reads a Cobalt SS-specific 'Knock Retard 3' PID, while a more generic tuning platform such as HPTuners may read the 'Knock Retard' PID?

Yeah, I've wondered if it did some smoothing or something.

The thing is, when I review the PIDs using the Dashdaq (>400+ PIDs available), there is only one Knock Retard PID that I can find for the LNF.

On my way im was doing some spirited driving and then cool it down just cruising and looked over at the rpd and seen 1* of knock retard. I have never seen it register any ever, and i leave it on the knock display just about all the time. Any ways is it something to be concerned about?

reviving a dead thread, just to say that yes i have seen knock on my RPD just this past Saturday i was showing up to 6* on the RPD. between 3 - 4000 RPM(damn lean GMS1...), issue seems to have disappeared after i filled up again yesterday, hoping i just had a bad tank of gas. HPT confirmed as well that i was showing up to 6* knock between 3-4000 RPM. (but only in that range and only in 3rd possibly false knock aswell?).

ive seen up to 14 knock and im bone stock down to the filter but i think i had bad gas because its always showing 0 again now

My interceptors have shown 2-5* when I roll on the throttle lightly. When I punch it... Nothing... I'll try to take a vid of my interceptors later showing it.

same as my RPD, however i think mine was a bad round of gas going to verify with HPT tonight or tmrw with n e luck

Mine does not knock on the street on the stock tune. Only on the dyno it knocked 3* in the midrange. Even on the stage one tune at 21 psi ish it does not knock which is suprising considering the 0.95 PE lambda in the midrange.
