Help!!!!

Ok so right now i am in a battle with gm over getting my motor fixed under warranty and it has been taking forever and now i am about to just bite the bullet and start fixing it myself.

Overview of issues:

I had some compression issues with my car back during the early spring (April), took it in to get fixed they replaced the turbo thinking it was blown, then come to find out my #2 piston went to ****, they replaced it with a new one, put the motor back together timed it wrong and bent a valve in #4, they said they replaced it. got the car back in June.

Fast forward to August (yes barely 2 months later) the car is smoking again, acutally broke down on my while driving. got it towed to the nearest chevy store they too replaced the turbo first and then did a compression check and told me i have no compression in #4. So I have been going back and forth with trying to get the car fixed but they are giving me the blues car has been siting on a lot since the first week of september.

Now i am at the point where i just want my car to drive again so i have been looking at zzp's site and looked at:

* the wiseco pistons
* ecotec rods
*new head (i honestly don't know if i need it but i figured might as well start fresh its only 300)

any and all constructive suggestions are welcomed

Thanks

Go above the dealership and call GM directly to see what they can do to speed up the process. I wouldn't go dropping money unnecessarily unless you were looking to upgrade in the future anyways but still I would probably see what they do about a warranty. The ZZP blocks from the testing and everything look bullet proof

You for sure should be in a loaner on their dime and they should be putting a new motor in your car

I wouldnt pay a dime for anything unless you want to upgrade in the future. Also consider that putting those pistons in will most likely cause the dealership to void your engine warranty should anything fail, and they find forged pistons/rods in the engine.

well the first time the dealership told gm that the motor didn't need to be replaced and that it would be more cost effective to just replace that one piston

and my warranty is about to run out anyway so i mean if i get everything done right on my own dime i don't forsee any future issues

The entire motor needs to be replaced at this point. The motor in the car is trashed.

I hate dealers, when I had the small issues with mine at the beginning of the year they had the car for 3 weeks the first time, 2 weeks the second and a month the third. I don't know if it's GM or all dealers, usually I just fix it myself but I didn't even have the car for a week the first time it went in.

i'm asking if gm can save the motor i am talking about me
the only thing i want gm to do is replace it but i don't have time to wait forever for them to do so i would like to drive the car that i pay for every month.

i just need to get the parts i have some people to do the work i wouldn't dare pay a dealership to do the work

If they had to replace a piston the chances of having damage in another cylinder is pretty high. Not only could pieces of metal be floating around from the piston that is fried, but the condition that caused the damage in the first place could have effected another cylinder. Also the damage to the valve is a sign of them not putting the valve train together properly. The valve could have effected the cam, spring, adjuster, put it further out of time or any number of other things. Plus now you don't have compression in that cylinder so it obviously did damage in there to either the piston, cylinder wall, the other valves, and the head.

The bottom line is that the dealer needs to fix the issue... you are doing all you can do. Good luck with the dealer. Insist on them replacing the motor... if they don't want to, then keep going up the chain until you get results. This kind of **** is why I don't want to ever deal with a dealership.

At least you have a rental.. everything's out of my pocket currently and they won't even guarantee their own installation.. no more Gm for this guy.. last Gm car EVER! I too am looking at ZZP parts/upgrades but to fix weak spots in factory valvetrain, which I believe wasn't fixed right the first time, which was 2 months ago approximately. Car's currently down and in pieces and I'm still paying for it.. I don't mind if they void my warranty, however, I really don't appreciate the fact that they won't even guarantee their installation of the parts that I pay good money for. Even if I put it back to stock, they still want to void the warranty and have me flip the bill for repairs which would cost the same amount as upgrading to appropriate parts required to prevent future problems. If they don't refund my extended warranty 100%, it'll become a court battle which I will not give up on since this is their choice, not mine. A couple of minor modifications isn't sufficient for this kind of behavior imo, especially since the repair job was most likely incorrectly done in the first place, and now it's apparently all my fault. Whatever.. **** Gm I'm done with them.

Yea man. After seeing that one of my friends from high school works for GM and does full engine work after 2 semesters at a vocational school, I don't trust GM. Hell, he works for gm but is scared to install my cams. Its dohc....like the easiest cam swap, no pulling the front of the motor apart or anything...

If you are paying every month for the car, then where is the money going to come from to drop in a built motor? That doesn't make sense.

And the company is fixing your car for FREE, and also gave you a FREE loaner car, and yet you're still whining. They're replacing a ******* engine, not a swaybar bushing. Not to mention the process that they have to go through. They don't just have a surplus of crate motors behind the dealership that they can just throw into any given car at any given moment...

You pay for your car for 6 months and barely get to drive it, and then tell me you wouldn't be pissed. They haven't even agreed to give him a new motor and it's been this long. Remove the large object from your ass, you may feel better....

Sounds like my SVT Contour. It was calculated by Ford to be in the shop more time than I had it out of the shop. I went above the dealership and they got scared after I brought in information I got from Ford Corporate directly. The issued me a check for the entire price of the vehicle. It sat on the lot trying to get a new motor for 6 months. Be persistant. Show up everyday and talk to the same people. Call GM corporate when you are at the dealership. I got nasty and they paid!!!!

They replaced:
Upper and Lower Intake Manifold
Throttle Body
A clutch (12K on it)
4 transmission mounts
Two sets of sway bar end links
Front wheel bearing
2 Mass Air flow sensors
2 Coils
1 set of wires
2 Rear Capilers

and eventually Motor!!!

Don't even ask about my Focus. And I am not joking when I say this. Every single part in that car was replace execpt for the block. Every!

Used to be. DilSVT. It's been 9 years since I visited that site. I gave up the car in 2001. It was a 1998.5.

I was on Focaljet too when I had the focus. DilSVT.
