help on chip
Trifecta base file for cat warmup delete, raised wastegate duty cycle and raised fuel pressure if you need it, then HP Tuned on top of that with a write cal. HPT doesn't give us all the tables we seek and TF has no end user software (yet).
Best of both worlds.
Best of both worlds.
As for the dealership not knowing, you're screwed. You would have to have a spare PCM and be able to put the car back to stock every time you took it in for service. You can't fully "flash" a tune off the PCM and hide it from GM.
Chip = OBD1
This was for roughly 1985-1995 GM cars that used a chip containing an Eprom, which could only be burnt to once.
EPROM = Erasable Programmable Read-Only Memory
Some EPROM's had a little window that allowed the chip to be erased when exposed to ultraviolet light for a period of time, but then needed a special burner to be re-written to.
OBDII cars use in one form or another an EEPROM;
EEPROM = Electrically Erasable Programmable Read-Only Memory
Early OBDII cars used chips much like OBDI ~ but could be electronically overwritten;
Latter OBDI cars did away with the chip all together.
Second;
There is only one guaranteed way of not having a dealer find an aftermarket tune on your car - don't get one.
Aside from that you could either use a second ECM for the aftermarket tune, or get a tune that has the Trifecta 'hidden tune' ~ which for the most part would go un-noticed on your car assuming you don't drive the car into the dealer with the tune left on.
Ive had them scan my car and show nothing. Sounds like whoever is flashing you back to stock isn't doing it properly. When they send it to GM is when you have the issue now apparently.
Nah I never got caught, but I haven't had the car to a dealer in 4 1/2 years, and I've only been tuned for about 2. The people I knew who were caught were caught a while ago, but DEfINITELY were put back to stock.
Either way, if OP is THAT worried about a dealer not being able to find something, they probably shouldn't be tuning the car anyway. Otherwise I see a "Why did tehy voidd my warrinty when I use NLS and trannie make funny noyzis?" thread.
That is what I have done, But the more parts i put on this car the more risk I take anyways. I am sure that the stealerships would find some reason to void my warranty If they really wanted to .
I am pretty sure zzp has spare ones. Also, Trifecta is a great tuning option. Vince can rent you an actual tuner. What you do is hook it up to your car (thru the data port), it will log some data, you send it to Vince and he can e mail you back changes that you then upload in to your ecm. You can tune and tune and he will adjust and adjust until you get it right. Or if you live near the Seattle area, you can do like I did and just have Vince dyno tune it.
It's so unfair this is the 2nd or 3rd newb that just happens to live in BYT's back yard lol...... we need a LNF/LSJ tuner in the buffalo area . I really need to make a road trip down to see you Byt....... I'm gunna need a bit more this year.
