How do you remove the K04?

I'm wanting to install my K04+ today but I have no clue how to remove the stocker and install the K04+ on the LNF. I searched through the how to section but couldn't find anything, has anyone wrote a review on this?

there should be 4 bolts holding the turbo from the manifold. disconnect/mark all hoses, piping and connectors. should be pretty straight forward.

Call someone that is experienced or bring it to a shop.

this is how i have done it (3 times)...remove downpipe, remove all heat shields and brackets, remove coolant and oil lines (i recommend draining coolant first so you dont end up wearing 2 gallons of it. then remove the bolts to the O2 housing and mani. then reverse for the install. maybe a few other small steps but thats a basis

Thanks!

And I'd like to take it to a shop, but labor costs are rediculous. Plus, you don't learn anything by having someone else do it. But at the same time that way I'll know it was done right lol

yes i love that attitude, that how i learned with my first turbo car, lucky for me it was a front engine turbo so it was much much easier. by the end i could remove and install that sucker in less than an hour

That's the funny thing about a lot of car repair: there's a huge learning curve on a lot of jobs. When you do them a few times, though, you always look back and laugh at how worried you were about doing the job yourself.

In my opinion, it's best to learn changing oil, spark plugs or an alternator, not screwing with a turbo. I'm all for doing work yourself but it would behoove you to procure some knowledgable assistance. This isn't a simple header swap like on an N/A car nor is it a complicated cam job but there are lots of little things that are easily over looked. At the very least, I recommend taking pictures of everything as you go in case you cant remember where something went when you go to reassemble it.

Good luck. Keep us posted.

yep be prepared for a coolant bath lol its going to happen trust me. I also find it easier if I remove the rear tranny mount as well. a lot more room to work with. Here is the order i've done it in and i've done it about 10 times now

1) remove intake from turbo
2) remove intercooler piping from turbo
3) remove downpipe (remove O2 sensor also)
4) remove rear trans mount (optional)
5) remove oil and coolant lines
6) remove stock boost solenoid connected to the turbo
7) remove O2 sensor from O2 housing
8) remove studs from turbo to exhaust manifold
9) once turbo is free from manifold, take off o2 housing from turbo

it really isn't hard at all. just very time consuming. Take your time and take pictures before so you can remember where everything goes. Without power tools this will take you 6-8 hours being that it's your first time. you can get it down to about 4 hours once you get it down. If you need any help message me and i'll respond to it pretty fast. Like I said I've done this so many times I think I can do it in my sleep. Actually im doing it tomorrow for hopefully the last time. Custom manifold, custom o2 housing going on. woohoo
