Question How does the ECU make sense of changed gearing ratios?

How are the guys with the 6-speed F40, Stage 2 F35, and Quaife 6-speed F35 conversion tuning the ECU for it to understand the changing in gear ratios and/or addition of the 6th gear to make the boost by gear and such correct again?

I figure that the ECU looks at Revs vs. VSS Speed when the clutch pedal is out, and figures it out from either a table or doing a gearing calculation. It's been a while since I dug through HPT for instance, but is there a way to modify the gearing ratios for the Final Drive, gears 1-5, and even inputting a 6th too?

tire size and final drive ratio. is the final determination. only time gear's come into play is in the torque management world

The e69 is limited to 2 tables for vss scaling. I also added in one of the limiter tables. I honestly forget if the 6 speeds shown are for 5 forward speeds and 1 reverse or 6 forward speeds, but I would assume the latter. I've never messed with the reverse limiter really to ever test it.. lol

I just put an lnf tranny with 4.05 gears in my cobalt. Seems like the cruise control is acting funny like I keep pressing throttle and getting off every few seconds. Anything I'd have to change to fix this? I did change pulses per mile , seemed to stop the issue but my speedo was way off

when I was an active Trifecta dealer, I was specifically supposed to mention if the factory fdr was changed - I would assume that somewhere in the tune is something to do with the factory gearing - which probably is also evident in my RPD knowing which gear I'm in.
