How exactly does the Trifecta Tune Work??

Do they ship me something to flash on my computer, or do I need to go to one of these "dealers"??? I'm just slightly confused on how it works. Reading all the threads about it confused me.

They send you a new engine and you put it in.

Just messing with you. You have 3 options with Trifecta:

1) They will send you a GT Tuner to load the tune on your car
2) They will send you the software/program & cable to load from your computer to your car
3) You can go to a private vendor and have them load the tune.

Lol, thanks. I read further and found that out, sorry for the extra thread, but while were at it, I will ask a few more questions I'm confused about.

How do you choose to get the tune that only turns on in performance mode. I was wanting a 22psi tune, and how much does that cost.

The dealer can't see what's going on right?

If they send you the cable, do you keep it(I know you send back the GT Tuner)? Will you be able to use it to do logs, and stuff? Or will I need to by my own logging device?

I drove my friends whip with Infiniboost, OMG!!! but the ony problem with it is "drivetrain longevity" how long will the motor/tranny last until it blows up? Its an awesome tune but really boosting pass 24 psi will shorten the life span on the springs/ valves/ turbo(surge)/ tranny(stock clutch)/ etc.. once the those parts start to go the cost to repair - anybody will **** when they see the bill...

is every trifecta tuner the same or there's some that are better than others ?

also will i have to choose how much psi i want to put on the mod or is it a standard mod ?
if i have to choose what is the highest safe psi i can put on ?

i also heard about semobody who could enable/disable the trifecta with his traction control button ?

finally what is the best place to get a trifecta tune...i live in montreal so i'm guessing i can't get it done locally !?!

with this questions answers it will be a good start to get it done

thanks in advance

When you purchase a tune, there are two settings which are activated by the comp button or the cruise control button. You choose which. You can also choose to run whichever boost you want on both settings. You just relay what you want Vince to do and he'll do it for you.

when i get my trifecta tune here soon im setting my dual tunes at 16psi and 24psi.....and its my daily driver, you need supporting mods to boost higher but i dont recomend too much more than 24...like he said above.....ur stuff will start wearing out faster....ur car will run better on the same boost with supporting mods when u want to retune

interviewatruins is also another who can help you with your tuning questions/needs

trifecta ftw!!!!!

ok nice thank you all for the informations !!!!!

oh and i bought the car already tuned with GMS1 does it make a difference for the trifecta ?

I don't think the guy made the tune with GM...but i'm not sure.

anyway i would like to have gms1 on 1st setting and trifecta on the other.

i have one last question that is a bit off topic but anyway. what is the weakest part on the car that may breakdown with too much boost/power ? i would guess the clutch am i right ?

Contact Vince through the website. He was great at answering all my questions. I am waiting patiently for my cable to arrive so I can install the tune!

24psi is the most popular tune. You can have it activated by either the cruise control button or when you put the car into competitive mode. As with any tune other than GMS1, you run the risk of losing your warranty if you go to the dealer. My advice to you is to find a local dealer because dealers can sell the tune to you for much lower than you can get it through Trifecta on your own AND if they are a good dealer, they will back up your stock tune and all for you for if/when you need to go back to stock and erase all history of the tune. GM cannot tell you are tuned unless they activate the tune and then scan the car. I would recommend going back to stock before you take the car in. The difference is like night and day when you activate the tune. The car pulls HARD through 2nd and 3rd. Just make sure you data log the car so Vince can see if anything is going on that needs to be changed. Most of the time, with the most popular tune, you only need to log once just to verify everything is good. Feel free to ask more questions if you want, and I'll try to answer them.

thanks ricecop for the informations. it's my first turbo car and i only had it for 2 months so i'm on the learning curve right now !

can your tell me what kind of mods need a different tune.

i heard that if i do a CATLESS and aftermarket DP i need a tune for it. Is that true...and if so is it worth it in term of performance gain ?

i would also like to get a BOV (just for the psshhhh...i know it's useless but the sound is amazing). will i need to get some code disabled for it to work ?

the reason i'm asking those question is that i don't want to make a new tune everytime i decide to make a change on the car. i could just do all that once and make the tune after.

thanks

with our cars pretty much any performance mod will need a retune, just how it is......

a DP will give you a lot better flow, the more flow for a turboed car the better

the cel or check engine code will be turned off through ur tune and you will need the upper and lower charge pipes with a maf sensor relocate and tune to even install a bov...

so best bet to to get most of what u want and tune, then get the rest later and get ur better tune and for trifecta its like $50 for the retune i believe

It's $50 for a retune but only if it requires major adjustments to the tune. I don't charge my customers for minor adjustments like a new intake or something. Going from no BOV to having one would be considered a retune. If you want to hear the noise, look on YouTube for sound clips of different intakes, you can get that pshhh noise with an intake.
