i think my zfr is done

I have not. since that takes a bunch of time, that will be the last thing I do before I buy new one. there is non on the compressor side, well very very little that u can hardly feel anyway. I guess I could just pull the o2 housing off to check for play, wouldn't have to take the whole turbo off. that would be easier.

I would certainly verify it's actually blown before you go buying another one. It definitely sounds like it could be the turbo, but like slowbalt2000 said his was smoking and it was valve stem seals. Not sure if a stuck IM pcv could cause the same issue, but it certainly could given higher boost levels of a zfr and you even said you're driving it hard.

Oh ****. That one should have warrenty or something on it. Let me know what u find. I'm gonna be driving nice for a while. Iv tested it for a few days, absolutely no smoking on normal driving or even up to 5 psi. As soon as I get into hard boost, then come to a stop, few minutes later. Clouds of white and blue smoke lol

Same thing for mine, no smoke or oil loss if driven out off boost. If I get on it then it smokes everywhere, just clouds of smoke and pukes out oil.
Warranty on turbos is a hit or miss really, thats why I just bought another one.

I have rebuilt journal bearings turbos with bearings I bought off ebay and beat the crap out of them with no issues. I abused the hell out of the factory K04 with no problems either.
I bought another efr so lets see how this one goes.

You said you were getting surge?
Maybe these things are real senistive.
They say they are not rebuild-able and that may be true for the bearings but I dont see why the oil seals couldn't be replaced.
