I bought a new PCv valve from rockauto. I figured it was that or the turbo so I bought both since this started after the turbo swap.

Well changing the valve fixed all my issues. Fixed lean fuel trims, fixed rough cold start and smoking, but smoking I'm still paranoid about till its gone at least a week without doing it. I advise u to do what I'm doing, Powell seperator v3, it blocks off the pcv valve port to intake and routes it to oil seperator, so no more oil in intake ever again, and if u do, it can only come from turbo

I also have a bad cold start and wacky fuel trims.
Hopefully its that simple and I can sell my extra super core.

Looks like u don't need a turbo after all. I did a data log run today. Still no smoke. I did get a puff starting from a stop , but I'll chalk that up to still some left in the exhaust or a little bit going though the valve in vacuum, which happens. Gonna seafoam it to clean it out today. Idles like new now, cold starts are perfect, just need to tune the trims in. So ya, she is fixed. Woo.

well son of a bitch. after some boosting, now it smokes even more. but my trims also went off again, so either by valve poped out cause I wasn't sure it it was in all the way, or my turbo is effed. I seafoamed like I do tons of other times, went to clear that out, it was good for a while, went on a few boosts, waited for about 5 minutes and it started smoking like a bastard, doesn't even stop this time. my vacuum on the gauge is notacably less at idle, so me thinks the damn valve poped out, maybe patrolium jelly on the oring was a bad idea. ill have to take the bastard apart again tomorrow and find out. cross all ur fingers.

That sucks, and I'm curious what you vacuum is also. I changed my pcv over the winter and didn't put anything on it.

I put just a touch of engine oil, didn't want to rip the o-ring. Not sure how petroleum jelly would act compared to oil, but I'm assuming that the jelly will last longer and could allow the pcv to pop out since there really isn't anything holding it in

well the pcv was still in there and working. did notice come oil around it and under the oring for some reason. I cleaned it and put it back in. will see what that does, don't think it will fix the smoke though. I'm gonna try a few things today see if I can see what exactly is smoking.

just took car for a run with downpipe not connected. no smoke again. this is a head scratcher. I'm gonna leave it unhooked for a day and see what happens, if it does smoke maybe ill get some liquid coming out. if I do its pretty safe to say its turbo, if not, gotta be in combustion chamber. which still doesn't show signs of it being but u never know.

Did you check the turbo drain by any chance.
