intake question help please.

I just installed my injen intake I had a K & N typohhon on my other cobalt, my question is, this intake makes a popping, almost barking type sound when i push in the clutch and change gears. is this normal? is there something maybe rubbing? We have chaecked all our hoses and clamps everything is on tight. I just wanted to make sure it was supposed to sound that way. Thanks for any help

You are hearing the bypass valve (BPV) on the turbo. Perfectly normal to hear it with an intake.

yes it was a serious post. i never heard that sound with my other cobalt as it was the base SS model. and we had the K&N typhoon intake on it, I wasnt sure if it was the turbo making the sound or if it was the injen itself that makes that sound on the turbo. to those who answered my question thank you. i appreciate it. It is definetly taking some getting used to as like you said it sounds like I'm kicking a dog everytime i push the clutch in to change gears. Thanks again for the help

oh well the cobalt ss/tc has something called a turbocharger. it's very advance. I believe this is only the second year a turbocharger has ever been made. They do this thing called blow-off. this is the expulsion of extra "boost" left over. It makes a woosh sound. very advanced. I heard there were thinking of putting on a supercharger but Obama said that is madness, it'll never work. some people misquote this saying it was michael jackson but it really was obama. And this is how the ss/tc came to be.

My AEM did the same thing, and it made great power, but it reduced the boost due to the learn down feature so I took it off because it was not doing anything for me.

You most likely weren't losing power though. Less boost doesn't equal less power.

You were making the same power at less boost. That means more efficient so in theory you only hurt the car by putting something restrictive back on.
