If you guys would like a CAI for the SS/TC, I am talking with New Era Performance and they might develop one if there's enough interest.
BTF (Baldturbofreak) will fill you in with the details

I'm definately getting a tune. I'm going with the synapse kit for right now. I'm having the only domestic tuner on the island install it for me. There called BSM Performance. I was talking to him today and showed him what synapse was doing. He said he could definately install the kit, but he suggested that I do a tune with him cause he said it would be the best thing to do because he could tune it at the shop with the climate here and not a pre-tune deal where if anything was to go wrong I would have to send it back and that would mean my car would be just parked for a while. They have a dynojet and have HP Tuner and ton of experience with GM cars. Now do they need The Cobalt specific HP tuners or what? What do you guys think? I also mentioned to him the Porting project of the K04 and he liked that idea better than a bigger turbo. He drove the car and love how he felt no turbo-lag. He said he'd like to work on the Tranny first, maybe a clutch and some axles before he tunes though. He's going to research the trans to see what stronger parts he can put in, sychro etc. I told him that its a Saab trans called the F35 and that its not as strong. I told him my goal if he does the tune was 400whp and he said he'd see. I think he doesn't know the potential of the LNF. He said to that he could fab a intake for me too. I really hope that I can get somewhere cause you guys have the places to go, me I'm on am island a small island with only one shop to work with.
CAI's require a tune simply because your chaging the MAF transfer function. ALL cars need to be slightly retuned if you screw around with the factory MAF setup.
Our system with it's factory wideband can accomidate up to 30% fueling either direction, but while it's learnign it will run like crap and everytime you disconnect the battery yo'll have ot do it over.
Tis' far better to fix the maf transfer function/correction table so it's right from the git'go'.
It WILL be 3" except the flex tube.

Baldturbofreak from another thread:
BTF is optimizing the tune for the K04 Upgrade as we speak and will hopefully have some new numbers.
Also remember, with the K04 upgrade, you're gaining power across the WHOLE curve
IM getting on it right now, New ERa will have some CAI's very shortly.
Since there is a great deal of materials required to get out of the fender, I'll ask every one now-
Short stack or thru fender? It's about 35% more money in materials to go thru the fender like stock.
Also Mild steel or aluminum? It's 2x as much in materials for alumium. Although I suppose since the Jig will be the same I can offer both.
A cheaper mild steel powdercoated one and a nice polished aluminum one.

Wait, a little confused, what do you mean by "Gaining power across the whole curve" and for which project? K04 upgrade or Synapse Kit with the 28? Sorry just want to be clear, also getting back on subject, what happen to Hahn making a CAI?
you dont need a tune UNLESS u exceed the limits of the MAF a tune will help it for better gains but u dont have go get one.. u wil kno if u eceed the maf sensor parameters hence u will get a code (DTC)
Incorrect brother. If your changing the cross sectional area of the pipe and or modifying the flow charicterisitics of the intake your going to need to change the MAF transfer to get fuel trims back in line (+/- 5% is acceptable)
The ;limits of the MAf are 912 grams/sec. Thats about 880hp.
