Internally wastegated GT3076r?

So i found that they make these with a T25 flange. Still tryin to determine the mount position on them as when i search pictures i am getting everything under the moon.

Kind of curious if there would be a way to "almost" directly bolt this in. Fabbing an intake or at worst cutting up/bending a downpipe would not be the end of the world. Anyone know anything about these turbos?

Fastgti69 04-13-2012 04:37 PM

Don't do it. Just buy a full kit and rid of the headache. Do you already have the exhaust mani?

ford 04-13-2012 04:52 PM

I have no problem buying a whole kit. Just honestly making a decision on which one has been the hardest thing ever lol. I spend all day looking at compressor maps, lb/min ratings, reviews, dyno #'s, track times, reliabiilty, etc.

I have flip flopped on my turbo decision like 12x now. I am waiting on the accountant to finish up my taxes so i can figure how poor i am going to be before buying the turbo though. I typically owe upwards of $6k :( so this was a "budget" idea i thought of while searching around.

Right now i believe my two top contenders are:

ZZP S256et + manual boost controller

or

Treadstone Stg4 w/GTX3076

Either turbo will be paired with ZZP cams w/upgraded fuel lobes and springs. Still i want the EFR as well and do some random searches looking for one that is availble.

Damn that's a good chunk

i was wondering the same thing since its a t25 manifold and exhaust housing for sale

SSlobalt 04-13-2012 07:17 PM

I feel ya on the taxes. I paid out $2k this year.

donkeyballs 04-13-2012 07:23 PM

What T25 exhaust manifold would you use?

Save your time and headache, go buy a proven turbo kit... Don't be a guinea pig for anything unless you have lots of $$ and patient. :)

09 gt3076 cobalt on the street - YouTube

you can try hitting up this guy and ask him questions, he said he was running a kit from hahn and apparently you could get the 30r as an upgrade.

SSlobalt 04-13-2012 09:05 PM

Man, that sounds so sweet. This is the year of the turbo upgrade. Seems like everyone was talking about it for a while, waiting on the EFR, then said "fuck it," and started going to other turbos.

Frogstofall 04-13-2012 09:12 PM

That sound it's making is not a good one.

I will have a GT3076r. I don't care what I have to do. :)

SSlobalt 04-13-2012 10:45 PM

Sounds like a lot of air sucking in.

Frogstofall 04-13-2012 10:56 PM

I meant the gerbil hiccup sound when he lets off the throttle. The WG dump is what you are hearing most likely.

Wangspeed 04-13-2012 11:01 PM

It would sound a lot better without the external WG. Otherwise, I love the sound of a GT30 spooling. It's like angels singing :)

x2

I had one on my spec v and hated it BC it covered up the turbo spool sound.
