Is launch control really worth it

So I've had my SS/TC for about a month now and have perfected no lift shift, but I'm wondering if the off the line launch control is really any good. When i turn the launch control on and put the throttle down while at a dead stop, the revs go to 5k and stay held there. As soon as I let the clutch out, the car shreds the tires like a mother. Am I letting the clutch out too fast? Whats the deal?

Haven't used it at a track but on the street I know it works well. Just let out the clutch similar to how you would normally starting out. Maybe a little quicker. Definitely don't dump it.

I have the Hahn's tune and at that point launch control is almost pointless. The throttle has to be feathered through the entire first gear.

I just say that because if you get a tune and get modded then don't get too comfortable with it.

I hate the launch control. It is worthless for the track and isn't much better on the street in my opinion. I wish there was a way to lower the RPM it is set at but, I think that it is controlled by the BCM and not the ECM so things look bleak for lowering it.

Hahn tune did lower it, but it's still pointless.

Someone needs to make a tuner for you guys like cobb has the accessport for wrxs and other vehicles. I have a launch control map on my car that i can adjust the rpms it is at just by taping my cruise control up or down.

It is an expensive peice of technology. Also with that launch control map it sets up the car for flat foot shifting to.

u know what would be even better, was with my S4, i could change from stock to tuned mode by inputting a code into the cruise control staulk and if i could get that for my SS I would be one happy man.

I like the way you guys think I would also be very interested to have full use of my launch control I am working on tuning my first and second gear on my car since right now its pretty useless unless you want a smoke show.

Launch control at the dragstrip is useless. Everytime ive tried it the car hooks and bogs to just off idle. It struggles to recover after the bog and ends up at high 14 second pass. My first and only pass while not using it was a 14.1.

Same thing for me! By not taking it all the way to 5k and going to about 3k I was getting 2.2 60' times.
