legal standing mile???
legal standing mile???
Anyone know of anywhere legal where u can do some speed testing such as a standing mile, 60-130?? I know about the salt flats and places out west), but I'm lookin nj/pa
Yea both a pretty far and I was thinkin even if u can get on a track with a long straight ur lookin at total lap time certainly not acceleration segments. I need an update on this one.... Are todays radar detectors useful. For some highway speed runs. Or have the cops got ahead of the technology
How has NOBODY mentioned the Texas Mile. Once a year, no holds barred, run what you brung. Sign a waiver, get inspected, prerun the course and then your in for a trapped standing mile.
If your moderately modded, take your wing off (it helps) and try to break 165. If your modded like cmiller, 180 isn't out of the question if you don't have a problem taking the motor north of 6 grand for more than a few seconds.

did 145 running next to a c5 z06 on southbound WI rt 57. Coulda kept going but chickened out (That's what I do, its my name). The vette kept going to 150+.
EDIT: Not exactly "legal" though... But there's absolutely nothing around.

there are companies that rent out airstrips and go around the country holding "texas mile" like events you just have to find them. they come here to south florida once or twice a year.
The Autobahn has speed limits...
entering a city's limits: posted between 55-80 mph but once you pass the posted city limit sign and see you the sign below, your right foot knows what to do..
entering a country side [small towns]: posted between 60 - 80 mph, again once you see the sign below..whoa..lol..
Also, if you get a speeding ticket in posted speed zone in germany, france, italy, swiss [some towns/countries have different laws/fines and many more counrties are using/starting to use this system as well] the fine can be based on how much you make[salary] so if you make $100k - 10% = $10k ticket.. SWEET!! LMAO!!
NOW imagine the United States did this.. were ALL F'd..

Doing something like this is VERY DICY and dangerous. If the road isn't ****** and you get air under the car or it gets *upset* with the slightest imperfection you, my friend, are in very deep ****. I went to Mexico to run the *La Carrea Classic* which was a no holds barred 100 mile run from Ensenade to San Felipe. You basically sign your own death warrant. I ran it with my brother..hitting 160 on the straights. Saw my friend crash and burn off a cliff (he lived) and a motorcyclist die. I was fu**kn crazy at the time and would literally do ANYTHING for kicks. Stupid for sure. They finally banned the run...after more guys got killed in subsequent years.
Bottom line....you better have all your **** together before you try a flat out 160 run. Most people don't realize that there is a HUGE difference between 130 and 160 on a *public road* with a *street* car.
Oh..A Tuned Balt will do OVER 160.
