LNF + GM SPO 'Underhood Liner'

I'm thinking again about buying this;

Underhood Liner 17801110 - Crate Engine Depot

I was wondering if anyone here currently has a TC with either one of the GM SPO underhood liners, or another Cobalt underhood liner installed...

Can anyone tell me if in warm weather situations, it causes the underhood temps to get too high??
*I'm unclear if GM didn't install underhood liners on TC's because of liability, or if it was because they were just looking to save a couple bucks.*

Can anyone tell me if the factory charge piping (which I do not plan on changing btw) rubs on an underhood liner...

Can anyone tell me what these weigh??

Thanks!

I have it on my lnf. I don't notice any higher underhood temps. If your driving there is plenty of air flow to move it around. Also the charge pipes do not rub on the liner. Nor do aftermarket pipes.

CED > GMPD
  • CED is a CobaltSS.net site sponsor - GMPD isn't.
  • CED sponsors many GM fwd type sites - GMPD doesn't.
  • CED puts together great meets for Cobalt owners ect - GMPD, yeah right.
  • CED has worked with GMPP to offer superb pricing on the Stage1 kit - GMPD didn't.
  • CED ships quickly and excellently - lets just say I have heard some stories about GMPD shipments.
  • CED will ship to Canadian addresses - GMPD will not.
  • CED accepts payment from Canadian credit cards - GMPD doesn't

the dejon pipes will rub if you don't have them pushed down on the turbo far enough with this liner. Ask me how I know I do love the liner though and I haven't noticed any higher temps.

In this case, GMPD stands for GMPartsDirect - a website. NOT GM Performance Division.

I have this. Can't say much about engine temperatures running higher or not because I got my dealer to throw it in with the car when I purchased it. So I have only seen engine temperatures with it on.

However, I will say that the SS logo is only stuck on with a weak adhesive and mine kept peeling and falling off. The dealer was fixing it for free (and had the SS sticker logo thingy with them so it wouldn't fall off and possibly get lost) and was looking into options when someone hit me head on and messed up the front of the car (and tore up the underhood liner). The dealers body shop was doing the repairs and apparently they said that when they went to order a new one they couldn't locate one and that GM doesn't make them anymore. So instead they just installed a normal underhood liner (I'm still not sure if there is even a difference in the shape of the SS underhood liner and a normal underhood liner which came on say the SS/SC cars??) and used some sort of industrial strength fabric glue to glue the original SS sticker logo thingy on. In the end I think it looks great, however I checked it a couple days ago and it looks as if the edges are starting to peel again.

I don't know if anyone else has this problem too so I figured I would mention it! Anyone else have this happen?

wow dude way to go off, maybe you missed the spot where i said I also prefer CED, but sometimes 20 bux on a 100 dollar item makes a difference for my pocket.

But way to go off on me, when i previously stated I was in the same boat as you.

"I'd rather buy from site sponsor" would of worked, as would I, but like I said 20% can be the difference. Along the lines, i would buy that for 80, but not for 100. to each their own.

When I got mine the edges were peeling a little bit too. I used some spray adhesive and it's been ok ever since. Sounds like bs that they can't get a new one, I just got mine in sept.

I've got a blank one in my garage that you can have. I don't plan on shipping it though.
