98% of the cars here don't need more than a gmpp.

So a GMPP clutch will support my ZFR ... its so iffy it sounds like. But for 300 dollars im bound to try it... its between that or spec stage 3+ or zzp stage 4 ..

I really think I'm going to try the GMPP. The only other options are zzp stage 4 or spec stage 3+ and that's alot in a price difference. Expecially since so many people are saying it will be okay if you drive it correctly. Its easier on the wallet lol

Yeah but he said that's the clutch that likes to shred with the zfr.

That's only because it can hold the power so when something needs to go it ends up being the trans. Upgrade the trans first or it will fail with the ZFR. You would only go with the GMPP because it'll slip and the trans shouldn't break.

I have read thru all of these clutch threads and noticed hardly any love for centreforce clutches! I thought these things were the cats ass in racing? Can someone fill me in on why no one is using them?

They don't even have those clutches rated on their website.

Just wanted to throw this in there. I broke the LNF tranny on an E47 tune, with a stock clutch slipping like a ****. So the stock clutch, stock turbo, can still break things even if you;re careful. I got a used LSJ LSD 4.05 tranny and retuned a bit, ZFR going on in about a week. I went with a KY stage 3, flywheel looked good so i just scuffed it with some 80 git and installed. 1100 miles on it and no chatter, engages like stock and grabs like a ****.

Yes but how much better is the 4.05 tranny then ours? I would think you go 4.45 or 6 speed..? No?

GMPP or ZZP S4. Supposedly Spec is trash for the cobalts, but everybody loves them on e90post

6 speed if you can afford it.
4.45 if you can find one.

4.05 was cheap and easy to swap, i believe i paid about $650 for it with LSD, and swapped it in myself in my garage on jack stands, it has a slight advantage over the 3.82 LNF tranny in mechanical load reduction on the gears, how much is not really an easy answer though.

4.45 gears are ideal, hell i am on the powell waiting list lol. When and if the 4.05 breaks with the ZFR is probably just a matter of time with my KY stage 3 clutch and E47, plus TX2k14 is coming up in like two weeks, so roll racing will be interesting

After driving a mustang GT this weekend with the stock clutch, I can say that the KY stage 3 in my car is by far much lighter pedal feel lol, but the engagement is very high, kinda weird to get used to not only bc of the height but the grab point is very small pedal travel so you have to be really easy with you foot movement or else it'll just grab and you'll look like a ******* lol, you can slip it but it takes practice and mine doesn't chatter at all really unless you really really bog it down.

Very few spend the money to get one> I did, and I love it. I know Omiotek has one also and loves it. Few others have it. I've only heard one particular person repeatedly say he didn't like them and thats like kmxrider or something like that haha

Honestly, I wish I had the time to go back through the clutch threads. Basically someone asks about clutches, I say that I have a Spec, then a few post later he says Spec is junk and customer service sucks.

No hate to him at all though, if I had a bad experience with them I wouldn't endorse it either haha
